Something needs changing. We're neither defensively secure nor look like scoring.

Sunderland have been a surprise package but 9 matches in there should be enough data to work out tactically how to get at them. Lets make the changes needed to do that.
Something definitely needs to change, hence why I implied in my preferred line-up that I would like to see us go all guns blazing in attack, so to speak.

Neither of our strikers look like scoring at the moment and it was a poor showing from Beto against Tottenham, a match in which he really should have scored at least once and probably should have scored twice. It would be difficult to improve on our defence whilst Branthwaite is out injured, so the next best option would probably be to try and attack teams. Bringing Alcaraz in would give our attack a much needed creative edge and bring in a player willing to take risks with the ball. I would drop both Beto and Barry to the bench for at least a couple of games.

Guess the alternative is to sit in and counter attack. But questions over whether our players are quick enough to do that.

I think it suits us being away against these.
Big Calves and the Senegal magician will have a bit more space.
It needs to be quicker for me though. Away and at home.
By the time these two have dribbled around players the rest of the opposition are back in their own box.
If I was Moyes this is what I’d be saying to both of them, a yard quicker and there’ll be more room in the box.

If things aren’t going right I’d actually bring McNeil on. So many set piece goals this season, and we aren’t scoring any of them, because we can’t find the head of Tarks/Keane. (I accept we took 1 good one v Spurs)

Has to make changes for thos one, it's all gone very stale. Rohl and Alcaraz should be in contention to start.
Up front and the full backs are killing us, can't believe we're going another season with Mykolenko, O'Brien and Beto as first choice in those positions
Nailed it. How did we go from O’Brien at RB as clever short term fix to starting the season with him as first choice in that position? Seriously inept.

Anyway, we definitely need a change to the starting 11 on Monday. Moyes favourite 11 aren’t scoring goals or keeping clean sheets.

The JP derby, England's number one.

Impressed with the way Sunderland approached their business in the summer and have rightly started very well for a promoted team.

With nine possible players off to AFCON,
it puts our star duo's sabbatical into some sort of perspective.

Hope we start to find some goalscoring form and our strikers hit the net, then the run devil run momentum will kick in.

Hope all five outfield subs have an involvement to keep the intensity going for 90+ rather than the usual 45 mins.

It's a squad game, make full use of it.

Good luck lads.

You're at home
You're 4th in the table, vs us in 14th
You've won 3 of the last 5. We've lost 3 of the last 5.

I don't see how you make us slight favourites.
It might be a close game, but we're not favourites.
But we bloody well should be.

If Sunderland are favourites, that's a tremendous testimonial to the job their manager has done and also an indictment of ours.

They have come from a way lower base than us. Moyes can't spin his way out of this one. We should be going there to get three points. No guarantees, of course, and we are playing a good side representing a great club. A breath of fresh air, this season, are Sunderland. But I won't hear any excuses from the usual apologists about this game. A real chance to get out of the funk Moyes has put us in. I think we'll win.
