2025/26 Tyler Dibling

When we signed him I wasn't sure it was the right time to be spending that much money on potential, but given the supposedly established players we've been able to sign I'm not sure that's right. He has a high ceiling, but not sure about his personality. I'd rather have a shy lad who you can help grow in confidence than an entitled divvy who won't listen to anyone, so I wouldn't give up on the lad yet.
I wouldn't give up on him, but he lacks the characteristic any PL wide man needs: pace.

He isn't going to acquire that no longer how long it takes him to acclimatise to his new surroundings.

Maybe they felt they were getting in early on the new Grealish and thought he'll be a safe bet in the meantime to get 10 or so PL games in the second half of the season. That's what I could defo see Moyes thinking about him anyway.

Moyes is still stuck in a 70s-80s era thinking whereby you bench young talent for a season before slowly dosing them into the first team.

The feller's off the charts daft as a brush if he think that philosophy flies or bears fruit these days.

That's another reason he's known as a dinosaur.

has he?

the lad cost 40m, not 4m. He should be walking into the team and making an impact from day one at that price.

The fact he hasn't or can't rings alarms bells, and rightfully so.

How would we know? He’s had one half of premier league football where OBrien couldn’t find a single forward pass and the rest of the time he’s coming on with 5 minutes left.

He’s already proven he can play in the PL. It’s just classic Moyes stubbornness believing every player under 25 needs a loan and a season out of position before they can possibly play in the position they’ve trained their whole lives in.

The current team isn’t winning. I’d be moving Grealish inside, Ndiaye to the left and get Dibling on the pitch for a run of games.

So you think Dibling should be starting over Ndiaye? Or that KDH should start over Alcaraz?

The fee paid for Dibling is based on long term potential, he is 19.

If this season he plays like a £15mil player....next season a £30mil player, then a £45mil player and a £60mil player in his 4th season and signs a new 5 year deal - accounting for 'inflation', wont you be happy?

Hes not playing because of Moyes.

When has Moyes developed young players well?

Hopefully they are but he has form for it.
just insane to be judging someone on 10% of the details from when they were an actual literal child. Even if he is what benefit is served from spreading rumours insinuating he's some mentally weak mummy's boy who can't leave the confines of Southampton (even though he lived in Exeter 3 hours away)

Rumours of him being homesick, missing family and girlfriend who is at uni in Southampton. We have been here before with Tyler when he had a brief period at Chelsea so it's believable tbh and could explain why the big boys largely stayed clear and we had a free run at him, they don't think has the mentality for it.

I think it was clarified in the summer that when Dibling went to Chelsea, he wasnt initially playing because the paperwork was still going through.

Then he quickly said he didnt like the playing environment there and they let him go back for nothing.

Well we will see let's hope it works out for him.

I have been hoping Barry, Dibling, Rohl and Aznou can push into the team in January.

Would be a big boost.
I'm not sure about Aznou, there was something the other day about him going on loan and Barry doesn't strike me as the answer, we only bought him because he had a similar profile to Beto, the other 2 should be involved now imo.

It seems clear that unless Barry massively improves, he's not the answer short-term.

Beto isnt having the best time of things either. He has value to the Italian clubs though.

Moyes needs to twist the deck.

For me its also about how we execute the way we play. Loads of teams play 4-2-3-1 and don't have isolated strikers who hardly get a touch let alone a shot in the box. You look at at someone like Kroupi at Bournemouth, he is younger than Barry and has just breezed in and is scoring and looks comfortable because their system works. Bournemouth had 3 players yesterday who were regulars from the season before, the rest were new signings or guys who were long term injured like Alex Scott. It's why I don't really follow this idea of 'settling in' its just an excuse for me.

Running a serious risk of mismanaging yet another young talent.

We were actually pretty good at this once upon a time. Moyes has genuinely surprised me with his treatment of him.
