2025/26 David Moyes

We’ve got owners willing to back the manager every window, a new stadium, and assets in the team like Pickford Branthwaite (when fit) Rohl Alcaraz Dibling Ndiaye Grealish Barry.

There’d be no shortage of managers if we parted ways with Moyes at the end of his deal. Mancini was sniffing around the Forest job for example.
Really? Getting rid of Moyes is one thing, but I think you are overrating the new owners based on how things have gone at Roma.

Managerial instability and underperformance have been hallmarks of their ownership.

We were better at the end of last season with worse players than we are now. Don’t know why we couldn’t have kept the basis of that team and just added some better players in key positions. There was a plan there with Alcaraz behind Beto playing on the break. Now we’re trying to play like the 07/08 team but we haven’t got the players to do it. The best we looked v Palace was when Alcaraz came on and started running in transition like last season.

If stability is just keeping on hiring crap managers and scrapping around the bottom of the table then get us on the merry go round.
Stability is hiring a manager and sticking with him, not wasting money on hiring only to fire after a year then hiring someone else for another year only to fire them

Soon as Moyes goes, whoever comes in will get given the same treatment if they lose a couple matches. I’m not saying Moyes should stay longer than this season but there’s far too many who aren’t happy unless it’s their choice in charge, even if they don’t fit

Roma are currently joint top of the Italian league, they appointed Gasperini as head coach in the summer who is a highly rated and talented.

They have started to get their house in order over there.
We shall see. To date their stewardship has been underwhelming, to say the least.

They are also near the bottom of the Europa League, btw.

The management sacking cycle simply drains resources, leads to badly disjointed squads and does more long-term harm than good.

I think they’ll want a return on their investment. Everyone can look at the numbers. 48 points in 23/24, 48 points in 24/25. 100 million plus sunk into the team on Dibling Barry Alcaraz Rohl Dewsbury Hall Grealish Aznou, and we’re currently tracking for… 46 points. We’ve played 5 of the 9 games at home also.

In fairness the fixtures are weighted so a lot of the homes games v bottom half teams are in the second half of the season but already it’s looking like we’re going to need a very good run of form to get into Europe.

I can’t see where the progress from last season has been kept and built on. I think if you asked most people after 9 games would they be happy with 11 points, out of the league cup and a derby loss, I don’t think many would have said yes.

The problem with the current "stability" is that it is an extension of Bill Kenwright's Everton. If ever a club needed a cultural purge, it is us. But what was the first thing our competent professionals decided to do? Install Bill Kenwright's dream choice of manager.

And we expect change?

Moyes did a good job last season. He should have been profusely thanked and moved on in May. But these new owners were completely unprepared and wasted a summer getting their backroom boys appointed. We are wasting a year with the Kenwright status quo.
