The CM conundrum

Just to add to this, if we were able to rebuild the midfield next summer then at this time i'd go with:

KDH - Sell if we can get our money back
Rohl - Sell if we can get our money back
Iroegbunam - Squad player or sell
Gana - thanks for the memories
Garner - KEEP
Alcaraz - KEEP


Garner & Alcaraz the only 2 I particularly rate. I think Moyes really needs to overhaul the midfield.

He literally stated he would only sign "robust" players at the start of the summer...what is Rohl?

I'm more or less the opposite of this

KDH and Röhl are the two players I hope we end up building our midfield around.

Garner can fill in pretty much any midfield position so he's useful to have around.

Iroegbunam looks like he would be best suited as a number 8 in a 3 man midfield, same as KDH and Röhl, so he'd probably be a useful player to keep

Gana may be in his last season now, so thanks for the memories (though he may end up still playing a bit part role next season depending on how much business we need to do next summer)

Alcaraz can only play one position and really only suits when we are playing through transitions. He came at a bargain price and I'd be happy to see us move him on at a profit next summer.

KDH - I'm not sure where you would see him playing if we were to build midfield around him?

Rohl - Injury prone throughout his career. Not someone i would envisage a midfield being built around

Iroegbunam - Comes in as a sub to tackle players. Not seeing a great deal more from him.

Gana - Doesnt look like a player to keep around if Moyes is here unless its to replace Iroegbunam on the bench.

Alcaraz - The only player with any attacking mindset in the central midfield in terms of wanting to directly attack.

Garner - The solid all rounder who should be a fixture in the midfield to do the unseen work and needs a top player alongside him.

Garner isn't a 6. We need a true 6. He has some good qualities and has been valuable but if he is asked to be a real screen for our defenders, he'll be exposed.

I think it is tricky to sell Röhl.

I actually think the depth is hurting us as Moyes will pick favorites and comfort over what is actually effective. Most managers fall into this problem though so it is harsh to single out Moyes. This is why I have bought into getting positions filled with quality then focusing on depth. We aren't even in Europe so depth isn't really that neccessary.

I agree. The very limited times I’ve seen Rohl, I’m convinced enough already to try starting him occasionally in favour of Gana. It’s time. Age is catching up and we need to see what the next gen can do.

This was such an obvious move. And it will continue to be so until Moyes eventually gives in and tries after 5 more goes of the current system

Move him to right back. He immediately was better at progressing the ball forwards there. At CM he has some sort of unfortunate curse which prevents him from passing forwards.
