Match Thread Everton 0-3 Spurs . Sun Oct 26th. 4.30

See, I want to see it that way, too. I really do. I also want to say Sunderland has a false record. That’s how we talk when we’re the ones at the bottom. Sunderland is having a purple patch. Could it be they’re playing better than us and recruited better?

Was it corruption that disallowed our goal or were we offsides? Were Spurs lucky on a couple of set pieces or were they better than us and converted against us? Was Gana really fouled that hard or did he flop and we got pissed because we were desperate for something to go our way?

We weren’t unlucky today. We were the worse team by a good bit. We have no real firepower up front. Our strategies are predictable. Spurs played much better than us and they converted on nearly all their chances.

Continually losing makes us want to grab at reasons we lost beyond what it really was - we were a poor side today and teams know how to defend us. Triple up on Ndiaye or Grealish. Expect a hoof ball to Beto. That’s all there is to game plan against us. We’re bang average.
We had a better xg than spurs from open play so we were the better team from open play factually

Spurs had a better xg than us from set play so spurs were the better team at set pieces factually

Set piece fc won the game for spurs

Fine margins in football and the desire from their players vs ours on the corners were the difference. They defended for their lives and we weakly allowed van Der Ven to get in ahead of us.

Thought there were encouraging signs today, just a frustrating day. Spurs were lethal but was very unimpressed with them in general and I'd say we were the better team on the day.

We need to avoid defeat at Sunderland and beat Fulham at home and kick on from there.

I get what you’re saying about expected goals. That’s what it is, though, based on statistics, probability, and past data. On paper, we were expected to do more. Spurs did do more. I’m all for analytics. I look at it this way. We lost the game we were expected to win and dropped three points. Sometimes the hardest games to win are the ones you’re expected to. I appreciate your point. I very much do.

I love Jack but let's be fair once he is up against two or three he has to stop going forward as he has no pace ,then Ndiaye feels the need to beat everyone so that stops us followed by having no potency in the middle and we are predicable .I know what we need is a tactician who can change a game early when the way we shaping up isn't working not a team of ditherers who only make changes to chase the game .We have all seen the first loss at HDS coming the shock is it wasn't earlier . I am not having a go at Illi or Jack just the management .

True enough mate and they were given carte blanche to do what they wanted from set pieces whereas we got nothing and not just the disallowed goal but the amount of shirt pulling they were doing from corners was laughable.

Scary thing is ive seen a few spurs performances this season and they've stunk. Clinging on for dear life in their european games.
Little bit like the west ham game in i think we've made them look far better than they are.
Very very Everton.
So frustrating

Which striker of substance do you think would possibly be available in January? And why would they look at our short highlight reel and decide playing for us would be the answer. Until we consistently win, we attract the likes of Beto and Barry. It’s that simple. Delap turned us down to ride the bench at Chelsea.

Ivan Toney. Wants to leave that league. Even if it's £40-£50m he would transform our team for a season or two.

Losing 3 nil at home to a side that average is utterly embarrassing

This club needs to find some standards and fast. The time for patience is long gone.
We've had over 30 years of patience - and 13 with this fella.

Patience was never in short supply around here. And a fat lot of good did it do.

Until the fellas running the club make savvy appointments, show real ambition, and demand a complete cultural overhaul, we will still be calling for patience in five years time.
