NFL 2025 Season

Teams were previously 1062-0 when leading by 18 points with 6 minutes to go.

Bo Nix is the first player in NFL history to record 2+ passing TDs and 2+ rushing TDs in one quarter

A lot of "history" being manufactured in the same 15:00...two NFL "firsts". I wonder how many games in recent NFL history had two "never happened before" occurrences happen simultaneously...

Kev, put the tinfoil hat away. You're a Chiefs fan, you're supposed to be the one batting conspiracies away

I’m pretty interested in seeing how the Colts get on. To me the big reason the Chiefs beat the other teams that are supposed to be good enough to beat them is they get horribly outcoached. But we’ve seen Steichen and Anerumo actually stand up to Reid and Spags in big games before.
When has Steichen outcoached Reid/Spags?

One Anarumo miracle in a title game where the Chiefs self sabotaged doesn’t prove it was anything more than an outlier either

...and one of those is the Commanders, whom some people tipped to make the NFC championship again at season start 🤯

Its funny as its practically the opposite of the AFC, where everyone there is seemingly just willing the Chiefs on to go all the way again..
the Chiefs, and I say this in all seriousness, look like the best team the NFL has seen this decade in terms of their overall quality particularly on offense.

This has nothing to do with teams 'laying down and dying' for no reason.

The previous best was the Chiefs of 2022, followed closely by 2023, but this surpasses it.

The 38-35 Super Bowl? That’s a lot of points in a big game no?
Second half Spags shut them down and held them to 10 points, while Mahomes didnt throw an incompletion

So I would say Reid/Spags got a grip on the game and were on top by the end of it.

As I said, I think it was the best team of the Chiefs dynasty, and any team this decade - so far.

I think this current one can surpass it.

Steichen didn’t coach the defense

yes he coached the offense. and as I said, Spags shut him down in the second half of that Super Bowl.
They had 3 real drives. Over 3 points per drive is elite stuff. There was no shutting down. And in any case normally if you give up 35 points in any game flow you’ve had a bad day on defense and lost, but Reid took a paddle to Gannon on the other side. He’s not doing that to Big Lou.

Wentz.

Not a leader, the same problem that has betrayed him in other stops as a starter. The way his time in Philly, Indy, & Wash ended tells me that he was the issue at all stops - Doug Pedersen notwithstanding, they won the SB with Wentz's backup; Wentz was in MVP talks when he went down that year...but the team was obviously loaded.

KOC.

I warned people here last season that he was a problem but I got shouted down.

I still think he’s a problem. We can see Darnold was the reason the Vikes got as far as they did last year by the way he has improved the Seahawks.

The fans and KOC must wish Darnold was still around…

I'd say the blame lies with GM more than the coach. They had both Jones and Darnold in their squad at the end of 2024 and are now starting Wentz and clearly have concerns about JJ.

All biases being put aside as much as I can muster - last season's Eagles team rivalled any of the 'best' Chiefs teams both sides of the ball over the last 7-8 years.. let's be completely honest here Kev. Two of the most dominant championship games in the history of the sport to boot.

I am not going to dispute that, although it might be argued that the whole thing was predicated on a historic season from Saquon, and that without it its not at all clear if they even make the Super Bowl. Thinking specifically about the Divisional Round game.

Even so, you've only managed to rustle up one contender in the last 6 years to challenge my view, which kind of supports my orginal assertion really.

Wentz is bad everyone knows that. But to me the real Vikings problem is the roster just isn’t that good. What elite players do they have after Jefferson? Darrisaw has been hurt. And then who? The defense is average or good players being coached well. I think they’ve overachieved mostly.

Also Darnold is going to have a moment in Seattle the same as he did Minnesota. They can’t hide him forever.
