News of Ex Players

Heartwarming to hear him talk about Everton that way at the intro, but rightly or wrongly, that type of sentiment has often been attributed to Everton’s more recent inability to get over the line in cups or when the chips are down.

On the one hand it feels like something that should be cherished (if its not already been destroyed during the Mosh years due to the conveyor belt of managers) but I hope it can be nurtured hand in hand with a winning mentality.

Technique filled Chermiti subbed on 76 mins.
2-0 down at the time, finished 3-0 playing in a poor Rangers side.

Not much worth chasing, not much service, one nailed on chance that a clinical lethal in form forward would easily bury.

He's not what we required this season, and got book value for his transfer, but has more chance at a run of games to find some form under Rohl.

Missed a crucial year through injury, so time will tell.

From the BBC...

Chermiti is symbol of what's wrong'

This must have been the first of the red flags for Rohl. It wasn't just that Chermiti failed to score, it was that he never really threatened to score.
His effort was harmless. A lack of confidence, sure. A young player, no question. But a player, also, that Rangers have spent £8m on.
By the time he was taken off deep into the second half, his goalscoring record at Rangers, Everton and Sporting stood at three goals in more than 25 hours of football.
That touch from the header was the only one Chermiti managed in the Brann penalty area all game. That's as much a criticism of his team-mates' desperate inability to create chances as anything else.
The 21-year-old's passing accuracy was the joint-lowest of any player on the pitch and he won only four of his 13 duels.
Chermiti might come good, but Rohl does not have time to wait and the chances are that if he was given the £8m splurged on the striker he'd think of any number of other ways to spend it.
The striker is a Kevin Thelwell project. The sporting director is all-in on him, lauding his promise as recently as a few days ago when Rohl was unveiled.
Thelwell's faith in the £8m spend seems unshakeable, which is quite something given that Chermiti's last senior goal was the fourth in a 4-0 win for Sporting over Pacos Ferreira in May 2023.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

He’s clearly struggling there but the way they’ve framed that is harsh. 3 goals in your first 25 hours (I’ve not worked it out but 16/17 games maybe) of senior football really isn’t that bad. Beto has 3 in his last 21 games for reference.

Looked ok for us but completely ineffective. Can’t even recall him having a shot.
Maybe just needs a goal then will hit a streak. We did negotiate a big sell on clause.

I don't even mean that as a defence of him as such, it's just that the point is framed in a way that's inherently unfair. If they wanted to make the same point by saying he's played 8 games for Rangers or whatever and not scored that would be fine but they've deliberately tried to make it sound worse than it really is by going for hours when a decent percentage of that is going to be made up of 10 minute sub appearances and games he played when he was 18, it's just a bit of a crappy way of putting it for a young lad with very little first team experience.
