The Flu

Anybody had it ? Anybody got it ? I've had it for a nearly a week, paying through the nose for cold 'remedies' which, if they've had any effect, is about as noticeable as a Moyes attacking plan against the top teams. I could fill a reservoir with the phlegm I've coughed up.

The doctor's sage advice was to keep warm, drink lots of fluids, and finished with, there's a lot of it around - thanks a bunch. So, alternative remedies would be most appreciated, providing of course they work, and don't involve eating raw eggs and the like.
Most people in work have had or currently got it. A couple of them did tests and came back as positive for Covid!

I still use hand sanitizer every day too. People are disgusting!

mad tings innit, i had the flu vaccine and covid vaccine too, not had a single cough in 4 years

Weird that
I'm the total opposite. Didn't have the COVID jab because of an admin cock up,have never had a flu vaccine and even after travelling across Europe five times since the pandemic on coaches full of coughing and spluttering youngsters never a cough. Although for clarity I did have the Russian strain of the flu back in my mind twenties when I was a pro athlete and it knocked me off my feet for weeks.

Night Nurse...the fitter the better.😉

Got something heavier than a cold but not quite firmly placing me in my bed for a few days.

Started as a tickle in the throat. Then the heavy chest and chills came on. And the sweating

Whole thing lasted 3-4 days then for the next 2 weeks I had a cough that wouldn’t clear. Thankfully all gone now.

Wrecked my running fitness.
Seems to be a few bugs going around and I think I had the same as you on the weekend.

The symptoms were like a mild cold (Not the flu, I've had the flu before and it's no joke)

Mild sore throat, cough & a bit of a temperature. Normal circumstances I'd dose up on over the counter meds and power through it, but this one seemed to sap me of all energy for several days. I spent all of Friday in bed asleep. I'd get up every few hours to chug a pint of water and use the bathroom and it usually took me a minute or 2 to get steady on my feet.
Saturday, I was a bit more alive, but a 10 minute round trip to the chemists felt like a marathon and I was soaked in a cold sweat and completely out of breath by the time I got back. Didn't start feeling completely human again until Sunday night.

Feeling mostly OK now, but still have a very mild but persistent cough that doesn't seem to be clearing.

Booked in to see my GP next week for a flu shot as I don't wanna be taken out by that as well

Get exercising to get that gunk out of your chest. A daily 30min brisk walk will do the trick.

I won my be getting any of those jibber jabbers again. Not when Big Pharma is profiting from it.

Good to hear you’re on the mend though. I think I got it as a result of the kids going back to school. Those places are just a massive Petrie dish in September. And not a dot of anti-bac soap or gel about the place.

Think I had Covid a few weeks ago but who knows. Off work as it floored me for 2 days and then had the razor throat and all other symptoms for like a week after.

The kool&soothe migraine cooling strips were amazing and really helped my banging head.

Just had my flu jab this morning.

Had it over a month ago.
In bed for 4 days plus many more on the couch. Couldn't walk 10 yards.

Terrible persistent cough , nose streaming , body aching and frighteningly short of breath.
Must have coughed up a thousand "Kirkby Oysters" , used about 10 boxes of Paracetamol and drank a lake of water.
Took over 3 weeks to feel anything like normal.

Had my Flu jab this morning, Doc asked if I'd had it . I replied all of the above , he asked if I used cough mixture & remedies ( used them all ) he said none of them work on this going around atm.
I told him I got some relief with boiled up fresh lemons in lemonade and water with a good glug of honey and Paracetamol.
He agreed said that won't cure it but will give relief.
Usually just try to soldier on with these things but not this one , this wiped me out big time.

I will never ever forget getting COVID, or nearly passing out after having me bloods taken in Fazak A&E (very weird feeling that, the room got smaller around me) - or vomiting a burger up cos i had not eaten for days (i love burgers as well, gutted), or injecting myself with pregabalin cos i was alone and had covid.
