Super reasonable take thisBeen established elsewhere, could and should be on 10 league goals by now. Such expense demands results.
That's one way to view it, and stats are never the full picture. For me, so far, he's failing the eye test. I can understand a player coming into a new league and new team not hitting the ground running, but he doesn't even look all that interested let alone know where or what he's supposed to be doing. I don't see any positive signs in his [limited] performances. That's the most concerning thing. Maybe that'll come, or maybe yet again we've bought another dud.To be fair, the context there is he's gone up a league level every year for the last 3 years straight, and continued to score double figures every time (this year is uh....let's be kind and say TBC). Can't ask for more than that, it's hardly stats farming.
Obviously goals count but with Barry he isn't even doing the football basics. Poor kid looks totally out of his depth.Even super effective and extremely expensive signings like Woltemade and Etitike have 4 and 3 goals so far respectively. Isak who cost over 100 million hasn't scored yet. Yes both our strikers should be producing more but there has to be reasonable expectations too , especially with a player still adapting to this league.
Good job Stoke are in the Championship otherwise the poor kid would implode. It's hardly a massive cultural change from Spain to England. Just wait until he's playing in late November rain and sleet![]()
I'm just not that stressed about Barry. I think he'll come good eventually, and I keep reminding myself this is a transitional year and there's a bunch of gaps in the squad. Now's the perfect time to bed in young players who need to develop - we aren't getting relegated and we aren't getting Europe. Comfortable mid table while building sustainably for the future will do me very nicely after the last few years. That's one way to view it, and stats are never the full picture. Woltemade has 4 goals in 5 games so far! a option we was considering alongside Barry earlier in the summer. Not Barry's fault though he needs time and not bringing another striker in when we lost two this summer three if you count Broja was criminal.Even super effective and extremely expensive signings like Woltemade and Etitike have 4 and 3 goals so far respectively. Thiago has started this season kn fire for Brentford and look at his record last year hopefully Barry can be the same in time
The context is a reply to somebody saying he’s ‘only’ got 4 goals though. There’s no point saying oh he’s only got 4 in 5 games why are you stressing about our striker having not scored in 14 games since he signed, because there’s an absolutely massive between the difference the two.If you are willing to spend £69 mill on a forward, you’ll get a player in with a shot of 4 goals in 5 games mate.
£27 mill gets you a project forward that needs work.
Yohan Wissa is £55 mill.

Thiago is a great comparison. He was more expensive than Barry too, and from a worse league.Woltemade has 4 goals in 5 games so far! a option we was considering alongside Barry earlier in the summer. No im not? I’m saying that the post you’re replying to is just someone saying ‘you can’t say Woltemade has ‘only’ got 4 goals because he’s only played 5 games’ but you’re replying as if they’re saying ‘why hasn’t Barry done as well as woltemade’. It’s just a complete misrepresentation of what was being said.Whose stressing mate, you’re just repeating my point.
