2025/26 David Moyes

But these are his players. In most cases over the years, the players he sends out on to the pitch at these places are the ones he has brought in.

Seamus Coleman, for example. He has made a career out of being an honourable loser, all defiance and post-match rallying cries. The only conclusion I can draw is that the inferiority complex of the manager is shared by his players. They reflect him.

Moyes is a good manager. Competent. But he is hamstrung by his own limitations. The question next summer isn't whether or not he can take us further. The question is are we happy to pooter along in 12th or maybe a few places higher given a fair wind? Or are we going to be brave enough to try to get in somebody with a higher ceiling who might actually get the odd win at these places while driving us further up the league? I understand Evertonians are traumatised by the last decade. But we'll continue to be dismissed as an irrevelance by the media whilst questions about us being a big club are asked if we think Moyes is as good as it can be for Everton because we're collectively enduring PTSD.

This is one of the most clueless posts I have ever read. It's the type of mentality that voted for Brexit. All we need is magical thinking and everything will be better.

True.
It all depends what Moyes was brought in to do...and what say he has in recuitment

Was it to just stabilise *
*this I can live with
or
Stabilise and get a 'Culture' going **
** just what sort of 'Culture'
or
Stabilisation, 'Culture' AND commence the job of laying foundations ***
*** 😱
Stabilise and build a solid foundation.

Which is the most important job to do for a club coming from where we have been.

He does that and hands on the reigns after his contract for someone to take the next steps in us progressing than he has done his job..

He can leave Amicably, having helped us massively in a previous mess we were in, and then coming back to stabilise us and bring us into a new stadium and new era.

He could than retire a happy man, having not had to massively change his football ideology..

Good for us, good for him..

( tho I'm sure if this happens, he will still get carved out by certain people in our fanbase )

Stabilise and build a solid foundation.
Now we get to it - define 'Foundation' (rhetorical question)

If that means picking players for the future where does that leave the DoF / Recruitment people??
Who's the tail and who is the dog...the top dog?
Who will be wagging who(m?)

Anzou, Dibling, Barry and up to a point Rohl just who picked, pushed, paid out big money for these bench warmers...and as yet no R B.

Asimov, 'Build me up Buttercup' all better foundations than us right now

The role of a DoF has now died with us and plenty of other clubs, we've now brought people in to run the different roles of a previous DoF so we havent go an overburdened person working too many areas.

The players you mentioned above will be Angus looking at the future, buying young, with potential good resale value if it comes to that.

Their will always be mistakes with that, but thats part and parcel of it.

Look at your house, no solid foundation, and your looking at crumbled bricks..

I expect plenty of RB's were put to Moyes but maybe he put his foot down after possibly losing the say on Aznou, thinking O'Brian was better than what was on offer, either way RB was a total failure on both parts.

Well you got that bit right

And a pro-Moyes faction who praise him for the wins and absolve him of any responsibility for any defeats.
He did a great job last season - no doubts his funds maybe limited - But IMO two full backs should have been sort back in June we got Barry & Dibling the latter who cannot get a game - yet our most ever expensive signing - & Barry not cheap who does not even look like a footballer IMO & he was not cheap -

In the modern game full backs are vital not just defending but as an attacking force - IMO we have got neither left or right back - you can excuse our right back as he is a CB -

DM should have sorted this out in his first two signings in June

Plus I admit in DMs pomp I never liked his football - he did well in places no doubts - our owners will judge him no doubt ....

Lets face it folks a lot of people like Moyes and a lot of people don't like him, its all a matter of opinion, surely that's what this forum is all about, opinions. What I don't like is all the abuse when someone disagrees with deferent opinions, there is no need for the abuse. We all have our own opinions.

martinez
koeman
allardyce
Silva
Ancelotti
benitez
lampard
dyche
Moyes

in 12 years that. As you are so keen with the condemnation, here's your shot... fill your boots...
Silva was hastily sacked - Martinez persisted with Tim Howard far too long cost him his job after a good season - Ancelotti defo poached back to Madrid - The Fat Spanish waiter & Big Sam were panic appointments - Koeman spent the most & with the DOF started the rot ..

Lampard out of his depth, but now doing well at Coventry....

Then on top of that Mosh & BK almost broke the club .....

The fact we have a new Stadia & have been bailed out is a pure blessing - & they hopefully get us up where we should be & DM will not be in the picture when that happens ....

Well you got that bit right
Well atleast I got one bit right 😂

I cant give you facts, I can only give you what I see, and what I see will be different from what other people see.

We are better than what we were, thats one thing I can positively say.

We can all come on here and happily debate about what options to use in the CM role's, isn't that already nice.
