No agenda against Beto he was just slow to react
This ^^^ is utter claptrap masquerading as authoritative comment.

If you overplay a pass it's as useless as underplaying it.

Allow me to explain: you - as the distributor - see the move made by Beto so you play the ball across the 6 yard box that tempts the defenders into getting a touch on it and turning it into their own net. To do that it needs to dissect that space between lunging defenders and goal keeper rooted to their line. But if it's not a pass that looks like reaching a forward (in this instance Beto), then it wont temp defenders to put a foot on it.

You're welcome.

A better striker scores. He reacts rather than anticipates. Lineker made a career out of scoring those type of goals. Both of Haaland’s goals yesterday were easy finishes, but he just gets in the right place to score over and over again.
I disagree Kev. He did anticipate where the ball was going to go and ran into the space but the cross was slightly overhit and too much in front of him not to mention he had to go at it with his weaker foot on the stretch. I've seen these kind of incidents regularly. As for Lineker I seem to remember him having a similar miss against Argentina in the world cup 86 when he nearly but not quite get there with a header. If that was Beto you'd be saying Lineker would of anticipated it better etc

Don't think anyone is to blame for the Beto chance. Ndiyae does exceptionally well to carry it and the pace he puts on the ball is about the only way to get it through to the back post. Any slower and it is cut out

Beto's movement is excellent, reads the intention and makes two movements, to the near post before pulling away. Just couldn't quite sort it out.

Just one of those things

Apart from the fact that I have seen Lineker score those goals 99% of the time and barely miss yet Beto misses chances due to lack of anticipation/lack of coordination virtually every week. There's probably about 5 examples from this season alone.

I don't think we're disagreeing that Beto isn't of the required standard but on the incident at hand which was not as simple as it first appears. I mean if you want to criticise a bad miss by Beto then the one on international duty is the one to do it as that was a criminal miss

You want a PL striker finishing that, but agreed it wasn't exactly a sitter either.

For me, he hogs the ball too much.

You're right to underline that he can pick a pass out and get an assist. That just means it's there asa skill but he needs to do it more. He just gives the impression he enjoys the slaloming past opponents a bit more than he likes to put another player in who might have taken a good position up. In and around the box: sure. Not an issue, as he can be very dangerous then...and productive. Deeper, though, he can be frustrating ball hogger and slow down the pace of our attacks.
Yes it’s definitely Ndiaye slowing down attacks. Not Grealish or KDH.

You’re picking one scenario, I could be wrong as it’s a long time ago, but did the cross for Lineker get deflected away from him, I remember some people saying he should Have punched it in.
It’s also easy to throw a leg than your head. Beto got a touch on it, not saying it’s easy but think he should do better and then had another chance which he dragged wide.

Everyone says play to his strengths and he will score, but he’s missed more of them chances than he’s scored. Offers nothing to the team, we’re stuck with him for now, but he should be out the door asap
