ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I suggest people interested get a hold of this book by David Kennedy.

His 2003 thesis on the split is available here.

It is a fascinating socio-historic analysis of the Club which had a majority of liberal minded, tolerant directors, and a rump of bigots who we left behind in 1892.

I know a Dub who is a red who was over for a match a few years ago. His rs jersey got soaked from heavy rain the morning of the match, so he wore a ROI jersey to the pit.

He was shocked at the sectarian abuse he received from his fellow so-called supporters.

Still a red mind you, but there was certainly a hard core orange element on the kop. I don't know if that is still the case.

Everton thankfully have always opened their doors to welcome players from all religions although we have to admit that we had a poor record regarding non-white players right into the 80s.

The wave of ROI immigrants to Merseyside in the 40s 50s and 60s were only going to choose one club - the one that had Farrell, Eglinton, Donovan, Corr, Meagan, O'Neill, Carey etc while the rs had none.

I think the article is saying about players who were born in Ireland - Irish nationality? Aldridge was born in Liverpool (I think) and played for Ireland because of his grandmother or uncle’s cousin’s auntie’s dog or something.

Haha, Aldridge is as much Irish as Pat Van den Hauwe was Welsh mate, it was a tongue in cheek remark.

Oh, and don’t forget to add one more fact to that, that’ll definitely make the kopite’s blood boil:

In my teenage years, had lot's of mates who lived on Rockfield Rd.

Significant Orange presence around there, but we all mixed without too much bother.

Most of the Lodge crowd, definitely supported the RS.

Slot and Big Virgin defending Wirtz.

Slot even brought Kevin De Bruyne into the debate.

What are they on over at Monster Mansion.
Of course, mate. They’ll defend him to the very end.

But I am starting to think that there might be other reasons for Wirtz being so useless 😳:
Wirtz Medical.webpIt sounds like they’re trying to play some mind games on the verge of the United match… They’re useless in that regard, though.

When it came to playing mind games with United, Klopp was the master 🫢!

He knew exactly how to throw them off of their game. 😜

Not keen on United (obviously) but hope they beat Liverpool (obviously).
That's all.
VVD’s been training hard this last fortnight:

It’s going to be one for the ages, mate! 😮
