No great surprise at the result really, despite the ridiculous gap between the two clubs, we still should have scored at least one and Illy was class at times.

It will be a great day when we finally replace Lukaku.
Said in another thread. The wait goes on. We’ve never replaced him and it has really shown this season in the opportunities we’ve missed.

TBF aren't 15+ goal types very rare outside the SKY 6 clubs?

Oh, and before someone says Mateta, it's took him quite awhile to get going if I'm not mistaken? @Alan Whittle
I'm not even asking for 15. 8-10 would be a good return, but we've not even had that regularly.

Most of the forwards we've signed have looked extremely average from like the first match.

I know it's really harsh to judge Barry yet for example. But I want to see something that makes me think we're going to have a good player. And as yet I haven't seen anything.

He took a while. Under Roy he very hit and miss (mostly miss). But when he did hit, you could see the player. Not helped by Roy not being able to make up his mind between him and the entirety different type of forward Edouard.
Being coached by Glasner has undoubtedly made him a much better player although a very sage comment on our forums today after the Bournemouth game.
“ There can’t have been a worse overall performance from someone scoring a hattrick in Premier League history.”

A lot of us on here said that starting the season with only 2 strikers was a disaster waiting to happen. Why does Moyes do the same mistake for every game, its always either Beto for Barry or vise versa, why does he not try something different for a change, maybe 2 strikers or a false No 9, and why does he always delay in making subs changes so late. In my opinion the incoming transfers were very average at best. Dibbling and Barry are not premiere league players despite all the money we paid for them.

The owners need to see this. We need a staement signing big name cf. in January. Otherwise were just making up the numbers…

I’ve not seen anything from these owners that suggests we are going to make a genuine attempt to get into the top 6 if I’m being honest.
Mediocre appointments across the board, mediocre signings, not attending matches.. Just don’t see genuine ambition.

Games are played over 90 and who scores wins them.

“We were good for a half” is the story of the season with us, but this doesn’t always lead to anything other than a loss.

We were okay today and Beto was mostly crap. KDH offers nothing in games like this and with this playstyle, 3/4ths of the backline was horrible - JOB, Tarks and Keane were garbage.
Try not to make statements of th bleeding obvious in your posts. KDH led the press extremely well. It was a decent performance against a very good side.

….Haaland the key difference, difficult to see us truly progressing without an effective striker.

Thought we were ok first half but I posted about the threat of them getting behind our full backs, then Ndiaye switched off and Haaland did the rest.

Pickford was very good and I know he was at fault for City’s first goal but that first half performance from Ndiaye was something special and earns him my MOM.

He was at fault for the second as the ball ends up in the centre of the goal but he then makes a few saves to keep it 2-0.

I read a statistic yesterday that Moyes has never beaten a team that finished in the top 3 from the previous season. That is staggering and clearly shows that both he and we are beaten before these fixtures even kick off.
The 2nd goal went through Tarks legs. Pickford would not have seen the shot till it was too late.
That stat about Moyes does not at all mean that we are besten before kick off. That is not how stats work.
That stat might also be interpreted in another way. Rather than show a Moyes's weakness it could also show how the top teams are better, how they have better players, and even how they get better ref and VAR decisions.
