The CM conundrum

chopper6

Player Valuation: £10m
It’s always a nice problem to have when there’s good options off the bench & debates over who starts etc.

BUT, are all the current CM options, and debates over who’s best in which position now beginning to hinder us?

I’m not sure Moyes knows the best 3 either. (Ignoring the wide players)

Gana - imo not undroppable
Tim - Looked decent in his cameos
Rohl - showing some promise, could be effective
KDH - technically excellent, but not working in the 10
Alcaraz - not being played in his best position
Garner - playing well, currently undroppable?

6 players there for 3 CM positions (whether that be DM, CM, 10)

But just doesn’t feel like we’ve found our best 3 yet, and now beginning to hinder us?

Thoughts?

Is KDH the 10? He’s kind of like an inside left midfielder. Not saying he isn’t in theory, but he doesn’t really play like one.

I guess the question also is, are terms likes a player being a 10 even relevant in modern football given how they tend to have hybrid positions, etc.

I agree most positions are fairly fluid generally.

But you could argue Moyes currently prefers two sitters/ DM’s? And then one more advanced?

KDH hasn’t cemented that more advanced position imo.

Just seems a headache currently finding the best 3 in those positions…

Doesn’t feel like any of them have locked them down…

Don’t worry lids. Davey has a plan as cunning as a fox that used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on and is now working for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning

I’d be looking to have Rohl in there as a box to box type, KDH fanning left like he does with Grealish and, erm… not sure what else!

David Moyes plays with a central attacking player. What specifically you want to call it doesn’t really matter so much as the position exists for us and someone has to fill it right now.

Yeah - and I think Rohl is probably being groomed for that role. KDH will probably continue the inside mid left midfielder role long term.

Merlin looks to have a lot of the Fellaini/Soucek attributes, but seems better on the ball.

No I’m saying the #10 or whatever is KDH’s job and he’s choosing to play where he does as his interpretation of the best way to fill it. Which is bad.

Rohl is fun right now because he’s just whatever people want him to be.

So somehow we conspire to play better with him in the team despite him not doing his job properly? I find that hard to swallow.
