Obviously I'd love nothing more than for us to do one over them, but only the most biased of fans would suggest that's even remotely possible with what players we have at our disposal today.

Strikers, crap. Best midfielder, unavailable. Best defender, unavailable. Full backs, abysmal.

And we're against a full strength Manchester City that's cheated in every way for a decade that has resulted in them having more talent on their bench than most teams have in their starting XI.

Not a season passes nowadays where we aren't absolutely pasted a good 3-4 times over the duration. This is probably as likely as any game to be a thorough embarrassment of a result.

Let's see if they can show some mettle, but it's unlikely we come away with any kind of confidence-boosting result when we know our best player isn't playing, we will create very few chances, and from the very few chances we do create they'll end up at the feet or heads of one of two appalling strikers.

Most neutrals would look at this today and expect a City clean sheet and at least 3+ goals.

Let's see.

Really don't want JoB at RB versus a resurgent Doku. He'll get ripped. The Charly x Beto combo has proved fruitful before so that's my reasoning there. KDH can do a job sitting and I'll give Dibling another chance against a City team that will leave plenty of space in behind.

Not yet but he's only been here 5 minutes. He's doing a fine job imo. But I'm just stating a fact that we generally do get bummed a number of teams each season. Hopefully that isn't the case today or over the course of the season.

If Garner hadn’t started so brilliantly in the middle, I’d play him RB at every chance possible until we buy a proper one. No slight on JOB, he’s done great, but our style of play now actually gets him the ball a bit further upfield this season, and it’s not really his forte.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes KDH in for Grealish on the left, Illy on the right, Charly in the middle given his last performance. Would mean Tim alongside Gana. Dibling needs another run of 20min cameos. Can’t keep hoiking our developing young new acquisitions at half time, we will destroy them.


As an aside, when players have returned from all over the globe after an international break, EVERY PL game should be at 3pm on Saturday. No teams getting an extra day or two. I get some flexibility when teams have qualified for Europe. But Internationals are totally separate and aren’t based on anything about club team’s schedules. Should be a fresh 3pm restart after every break.
