2025/26 Jordan Pickford

We haven’t performed as one for a long time, that’s the problem and gives an excuse for goblins like Danny Murphy to say what they have.

You also have to consider with each new generation of football fan , the longer we are outside the perimeter of any success we will be treated as such and any potential to grow the supporter base is at a risk.

What also annoys me is people like Tony Bellew, Hes been on talksport yet again , i suspect posturing , ranting and saying what a big club we are yet the things he has said and lauded over the years dont align with that at all. He says he loves the club yet a lot of what he has said inadvertently makes little of it !
Bellew is a cancer. He was one of Kenwright's fluffers. Anybody who propped him up in any way was complicit in reducing the club to its current status of also-ran.

Very happy to see this! Also love to see a player that truly cares about the club he plays for.
Yes, there was a time not too long ago that "a one-club man" was revered by all football fans.

I think it changed when Le Tissier refused to leave Southampton and the entitled Premier League fanboys threw their toys. From then on, the one-club man was reviled for lacking "ambition".

Feel like he’d be eaten alive at any of City United Chelsea Arsenal etc. the media already have the knives out for him here but if he moved to one of those and made any kind of error it would be the end of his England career which I think he probably values above anything else.

Look at what’s happened to Ramsdale Martinez Onana Kepa Caballero Bravo even Trafford now. Put in a team and spat back out quicker than anything. It’s only really Martinez who went and rebuilt himself at Villa playing regularly. Ironically Trafford might have been better staying at Burnley.

I don’t know what it is about him but as soon as he’s joined the media have always treated him differently to the likes of Ramsdale Pope Butland Henderson who have all had their abilities massively inflated at times. Even absolute error machines like David James, Rob Hreen and Joe Hart get favourable coverage despite sending England out of tournaments. You see some of the errors Sanchez makes or Vicario or Bayandir. If Pickford was making these he’d get massacred.

It’s the best thing he’s ever done not moving to a sky six club, the media would be on him like a pack of wolves. I’ve never known a player perform so well for club and country yet continuously have this underlying current in the media that he’s not good enough and needs to be replaced by….checks notes….erm Nick Pope.

I dont think he would. I think he thrives under pressure where some of those keepers for those clubs have fallen flat. He'd have got more plaudits.

But the whole debate misses the point entirely and he's being judged over a period where different styles of keepers have been the pick for most clubs. The past decade of ball playing keepers who cost a fortune and turn into holograms when a shot comes near them meant Pickford was judged against that.

Plenty of factors why clubs buy certain keepers. And a lot of reasons has nothing to do with them being able to save shots.

Funny timing, with the contrived 'big club' debate filling a slow news week.

Objectively speaking, I'm surprised he's never fancied a crack at a club that competes, but he's not your typical footballer and Everton isn't your typical club.

I hope he finishes his career here.

Man United could've bought him when De Gea left. Instead they went for Onana.

Chelsea need a keeper. Instead they went for Sanchez.

Personally think these clubs look for different things in a keeper - profile, age, clubs, competitions they've played in etc. None of it talent related

As an Evertonian I will always owe Jordan Pickford a debt of gratitude for the numerous saves he made in vital games were a defeat could have buried us as a top level football club.
The most important player we have had for at least the last 4 seasons, keeping us in games we were getting battered in and pulling saves out of his backside to win points we had no chance of without him. Some people don’t appreciate how good he is and that’s because they have absolutely no idea about goalkeeping.

For context, the gormless scrotum faced Lee Dixon wanted the dreadful Aaron Ramsdale in the England team when he was at Arsenal… what a clueless bulb.
