2025/26 David Moyes

Interesting, but I won't be losing any sleep over this. I'm guessing the same statistic applies to a lot of teams outside of the European positions?

Possibly so. I'm not even sure my stats are entirely correct. He's scored 94 PL goals for them, in 3 and a bit seasons. It's a level of player we can only dream of, but that doesn't make them unbeatable.

It's ridiculous to suggest they're a busted flush though and still not one of the best teams in the world. They haven't finished outside the top 4 since their manager's (ever heard of him?) first season.

I love the way you posted a stat and didnt even check it.

Haaland has 94 PL goals for City, 136 in total.
Since 2022 Everton have scored 125 PL goals.

Ah well, I was guessing, and my internet was playing up, so just sort of guessed. Maybe I just seen his total of 136 amd took that as being more. Either way, our entire team has scored 30+ more than him in that time. I think the point remains.

I'm never too shy of posting a piece of infactually correct info, as long as I think I'm in the right ballpark. I'm happy to admit being wrong, unlike many bellends.

You possibly werent wrong.

You said he had scored more goals for City than Everton had in that time.

I cant be bothered checking the cup goals we scored in that time, but as you say, im sure it would be close.

Because civil war was what a real split looks like. For the record, I opposed the appt. of Benitez as it was obvious how much of a split it would cause. However, once he was appointed, I tried to give him a fair chance, and always felt he was let down with being given less than £2 million to spend. I've never had the feeling that Moyes would cause a genuine split. More like there'd be a a minority of vocal 'experts' who would make their voices as loud as they could.

There's the problem: "didn't want him" so obviously biased. He's done a good job. End of story. Give him the credit he deserves. Just for the record, which manager were you banging the drum for before we appointed Moyes?

There's no split amongst the fanbase, just some dissenting voices who are desperate to be proved right. It's a million miles from the toxicity and 'split/civil war' that we witnessed under Benitez.

I didn’t say real split, however you want to define it. It’s a split whether you think it’s small or big

You’ve also got a contradictory point in there, saying you opposed Benitez but gave him a fair chance but then a moment later assuming that me not waiting Moyes means I won’t give him a fair chance.

I think you just haven’t read my post clearly. I actually said I was happy with last season and think he has done okay this season. As such, giving him a fair chance.

For me at least the September poll showing a slim majority wanted to give him the season and then see, reflects a large part of the fanbase that would be much closer to turning on him than you’d like. Not sure how you’d read it. I’d definitely not say there’s a majority happy to give him his two years.

Complete exaggeration of what people are saying. A total straw man argument

It's okay that many fans don't like him, in fact it's understandable. We have seen a LOT of him.

We appointed somebody we all know would ensure a split, it is what it is.

I also believe it's all unimportant anyways, as he will likely be gone in the summer
Our fans not liking David Moyes is understandable in the same way that it is understandable that Americans vote for Trump. In any group there is a large proportion of morons. David Moyes has been by far our best manager for the last 35 years. He basically saved the club.

It's not about "not liking him" more about wanting better, nothing wrong with that. Nil Satis.

You can appreciate what he did at one point but then take a dislike at a later point. Wouldn’t blindly cheering on somebody even if they seem to have clear flaws be more like a trump supporter?

I enjoyed plenty of moments with Moyes, however I grew tired of his safety first approach in big games. I’m boring myself even typing this. You know it’s true, it’s just it didn’t bother you that much. It did bother others. Totally understandable

That he possibly saved the club when he arrived, possibly, has no bearing on years later when we go away to bigger teams and don’t try to compete in any real way and always try same approach. I appreciate much of his work, other parts I didn’t like and 11 seasons was more than enough for somebody that never won anything.
