2025/26 David Moyes

City aren't what they were but, obviously, have a superior squad to us. That being said, they aren't in great form and this is a decent opportunity to try and take something from them. Whether that is how we approach the game is not up to me, it's up to the manager, and how he set up against the RS doesn't fill me with confidence. So, yes, I'm predicting a loss. I hope I'm wrong.
City are not a team to be afraid of anymore imo, the days of them being invincible are gone, they have weaknesses.

Mr Moyes has a very good opportunity in our next match to show that he is a different type of manager to his last stint with us. Will he actually attempt to beat a diminished Man City side or will he revert to type and play to not lose and end up accepting yet another narrow away loss to one of the Sky 6?
Diminished or not the team that City will put out is still streets ahead of Everton.

No matter how good a manager is ( and I think he's good with some limitations when it comes to forward play ) you can't level that playing field .

You might get lucky once or twice but that's about it.

Yup. City will be clear favourites, but there does come a time where Everton fans have got to stop comparing the here and now with the last four years - which was the nadir of our modern history. Similarly, we have got to stop imagining that this is the City of Yaya Toure, David Silva, or Kevin de Bruyne. If Lampard and Dyche could go there with a worse side and draw against a better City, we can go there and aspire to get something from the game.

I won't be writing this one off.

You see I'm partly with you on this. Moyes WILL set up not to lose and given our situation I'd prefer to see us have a go at City but to pretend that they are there for the taking , especially by us without Jack , is for the birds

We need to stop being afraid of the top 6 full stop imo.

Some of the shouts and criticisms in here are absolutely ridiculous.

It's almost like nobody gives a crap about where we were as a club (perennial relegation strugglers) last January.

Mr Moyes has absolutely steered the ship in the right direction, and short of that, I'm not really sure what anybody expected him to do when he was brought in to this car crash of a club.

If any serious blue would had been offered comfortable safety last January and then a tilt at the top half this season ,then they'd have bitten your hand off. Lest we forget.
Sadly, it's always the way m8.
It won't change, certain people always need a fall guy, a back to jump on, however they are doing..

Self pride is more important than club happiness..

I mean they were in a far worse state last season when we played them than they are now.

It is not an either or situation I hate the guy and although I thought he had convinced me I have reverted ,whether we are in a better position or not is not the point ,the point is he is scared of any team above us or playing well and he shows the fact he only played at a lower level with his nous and tactics .
Because we are in a much better position now may not be all down to him ,just look at the squad ! I like a drink but when the manager comes on pressers and the first thing he wants to talk about is a bottle of wine and he openly states he will not be here for long ,I fear he has had a stroke of luck and now we need more from a manager than being scared . He demonstrates he ineptitude when he puts a team out that doesn't compete tactically and he "dropped "4 of our five best performers for a cup game -out we went -which is all he deserved . I hope when he does go we don't get cries for Bainsey or the ilk ,hopefully TFG are realising now and preparing someone much better.
I am lucky to have seen all our teams from the fifties onward and know the difference between him and a good manager ,that is why I want him out .
We must never be happy with the turgid mess we have had to endure but also we must strive to be better and not have somebody at the helm who is happy with "Europe " we want to win .

'Hate' that's a very big word m8..

Moyes does what he does, he's not going to please everyone but you know what your getting.

The cup attitude was awful, which everyone would probably agree on.

He was brought back in to bring some pride back to a fully dismantled club, in which he has achieved.

A 2yr deal, if he has built a good solid Base for another manager to work from than he's done his job.

Sometimes the old grudges are hardest to put to bed!
