Not in the slightest bit worried about this kid in the long run.

Only problem is unlike a lot of clubs we need signings, especially of big money, to deliver immediately.

I'm backing him and Moyes to get him on the right path.

First of all kilbane was a decent winger for us during a very productive period. Not amazing but not terrible.
Certainly Not turbo gash. But I was only half joking about Dibling.
I’m fine to give him time, be eased etc. there is plenty of time for him to come good, but the jury is allowed be out. We have bought enough players in our history that were meant to be the next big thing and that don’t come good. John Oster, Stephen Hughes, even Gerard Deulofeu.
I’m sure he will be a decent signing, and I would take Kilbane type now, half a decade of good service… with on off chance of being world beater.

Both Kean Lookman took a good few years after they left Everton, to finally find their feet, especially Lookman, who bounced from club to club, before finding his feet at Atlanta. So I don`t think you can use that particular stick to beat the club with. Both were sold at a profit too. The only really young player who we`ve let go and immediately went onto great things was Rooney and he was sold to stop us going bust.

Lookman and Kean have come good, in spells, but were (and still are it seems) "difficult" lads.
And who are the host of others? please tell.

It's easier to name young players who were successes, Branthwaite and Richarlison. Jake O’Brien looks like he is on the right track too. DCL was a good buy

Dibbling has come in with a reputation of being a potential special player. I’m not on Dibblings back here but our success rate hasn’t been great with young players.

We have only bought through one genuine first-teamer since Moyes left - Anthony Gordon is the one player who came in and shone, but quickly moved on.
Some players looked promising but diminished quickly… Holgate, Godfrey, Nkounou

Some players were bought with big reputations and it never happened. Lookman, Kean, Vlasic, Onyekuru, Besic, Onana, Deufelou

In terms of transfer fees in and out there is an argument that some of those “made money” but in terms of performances on the pitch and longevity at the club not many could be said to be a resounding success.

I’m not looking to right Dibbling off, if I'm honest, I haven’t seen enough of him yet, what I have seen has been tidy. Success is always down to Ability + Mentality (and luck with injuries). Nothing is a foregone conclusion, and at 19 it can go both ways.

Yeah I was working on the basis that they seem to be including Holgate, Godfrey and Nkounkou in the same bracket and the wider conversation is about a player we bought so I assume we're not just restricting it to academy players. If we are then it's still not quite true becuase Davies was definitely one, and I'd include Barkley personally because he really 'came through' after Moyes, despite having made some appearances under him.

Yeah I always think people massively overplay the issues we have with young players. It's a bit like when people talk about Moyes's transfer record in his first spell for me, people just change the parameters to suit the argument and ignore anything that offers a different perspective. Obviously there have been young players who haven't settled or blossomed here, but I'm not sure our record in that regard is any worse than most teams.

Bit unfair on Kilbane,not too quick off the mark but when he got going a strong runner who could cross the ball.

I mean that’s not true. We signed a range of strikers and he saw them all off. And initially he played out wide, as supporting striker and even as RWB on occasion because there was competition for places.
