2025/26 Jack Grealish

So you don’t agree with the Opta definition of an assist?

Opta, a British sports analytics company and the official provider of Premier League statistics,[5][6] defines an assist as "The final touch from a teammate, which leads to the recipient of the ball scoring a goal"

If not how would you define an assist? You seem to be suggesting that pass length and distance from goal are metrics that should also be included?
Pickford drops the ball at his feet, takes it on a run towards the opposite goal. Slaloms past 8 players, draws the opposition goaly off his line. All the while, waiting for one of his teammates to catch-up to him. Lobs it over the keeper, onto the toes of his fellow player on the goal line for a tap-in. That's a proper assist.

Have to say that is an assist I would LOVE to see!
