Well in! Had to be something changed and thankfully there was. Much needed change of tactics and suddenly we are better for it, cannot keep throwing whole halves of football away and the hoofs have got to stop a lot quicker. Very noticeable that Pickford and the centre halves started playing it short immediately in the second half. Sick to death of it.
Alcaraz provided a much needed link between the sitting midfielders and the attack which Ndiaye wasn’t capable of in the first half (although the setup wasn’t allowing it). Alcaraz and his energy were the catalyst to this turnaround, a massive thank you to Tim as well who came on, was great, and got us the important penalty by driving forward off the ball from centre midfield (another tactical adjustment as neither Gana or Garner were doing it first half).
I could go on and on about that first half and how absolutely nothing changed, as everyone watched Palace sauntering around in first gear, to get Everton taking the game to Palace but it’s a great win, a great 3 points, the subs all made an excellent and productive impact on the team and we were finally looking at what our players could do to impact the game rather than the opponent.
Well done to the ref for finding 4 extra minutes (more than we got at Anfield for the entire injury time!) over the 8 to let Palace try and get back in to it, really needs to be a clock in the stadium so everyone can see. Get well soon Mick Kegs. Up the toffees!
