2025/26 Thierno Barry

Didn’t you used to give people the finger if they mentioned resigning jack harrison ?
Yeah because it was obnoxious and not remotely funny after the 50th time the tired and whinge jokes were made so they weren't really involved in actual discourse so this isn't the gotcha moment you think it is, oh remind me did we end up signing Jack Harrison I can't remember

It does make me laugh that we've two strikers who between them have 1 goal in 6 and we're not allowed to discuss it on an Everton forum without this you're criticising them crap. You're right they are a bit mental. Though i'm not sure anything will top the Calvert lewin thread. That was pure one flew over the cuckoos nest crazy.
Im actualy a bit stumped on who to go with. We cant keep just swapping them over hoping one might do it in 45 minutes spells. One needs an extended run. At a push i'd say Barry.
See beto has actually proven capable of scoring goals....

Barry looks slightly better as a footballer but hasn't looked like scoring so far

Has he done anything at all in his 6 games for us? I’m not bothered about him scoring, has he worked? Has he done anything at all half decent, I think the answer is no.
Have we really provided him the chances to show his game other then chase dead balls..

Not sure we'll improve his heading tho, looks a bit flat footed and jumps like a penguin..

Barry has started 1 league game and Beto 5, there’s some
Mad narrative like they’ve had similar minutes. Apart from the derby when he came on at half time, the other 4 he’s come on at 69,75,76 and 86
Barry need to Start 5 of the next 6

We’ve gone from a team that plays on the counter to one that is trying to walk the ball in.

If we want to play on the counter play Beto. If we want to build through the phase then start Barry and give him some confidence. At the moment it’s the wrong way round, Beto is starting games when we’re playing to his feet which he’s no good at then as the game opens up and defenders tire we’re bringing on Barry who is coming short to show for it and not troubling defenders.

Look at Hoijlund and how he’s been utilised by Conte who bought a player who likes the ball in front of him to deputise for Lukaku who also likes the ball in front of him. It fits Conte’s system. We’re trying to play like the worst version of Wenger’s later Arsenal teams at the moment without the players to do it.

Completely agree.

….no, them failing to get on the end of things is only down to them. If we had a genuinely effective central striker in this team, then you’d see a huge difference.
I think your right and wrong in the same post, a genuinely effective striker will gain more confidence in him from the players around him, so they won't defer their pases to more trusted sources.

But how can Barry prove to be a effective striker without players having the faith and looking at him not just other players around them.

Give him a proper run of starts and see how it plays out, you can't get worse then chopping and changing strikers each wk.

Yeah i have stated the difference in the game time. More a general point that the club has a single goal out of its centre forwards. Mind thats nothing new here. Its been a graveyard for forwards for longer than i care to think of.

I think if a player isn't playing well, especially a new signing without any previous loyalty attached, if they aren't firing on all cylinders the expectation is that they put in the hard yards.

Appearing disinterested isn't a great look.
I think thats actually my biggest concern. Im not bothered by a young player not lighting the world on fire in his first matches, in fact I expect he wont do much. But the one basic requirement is a lot of hard work to prove yourself. The fact Barry has shown almost the opposite I take as a very poor sign. When you struggle, you can work your way out of it. But no matter how much talent you have, if you dont put in the effort you wont ever get there.
