2025/26 Beto

If he’s not bullying/harassing/making runs then there really isn’t any point in him playing a single minute. You can’t play Premier league games with 10 men and it wasn’t lost on me (as a few other posters alluded to) that players are now deliberately not involving him in the build up. Grealish on his debut at Leeds fired a homing missile of a ball into his feet and it ricocheted off him by 20 yards, it’s what you expect to see in non-league football every weekend not the Premier league.

Beto’s had a load of starts (6 out of 8 games) this season and he’s been beyond awful, he’s also been making those starts with Grealish, KDH and Ndiaye behind him for the most part. It’s well past the time for a prolonged run in the team for Barry (even though he hasn’t looked like a striker yet he can at the very least control a football which the team is now geared up to do) or Ndiaye or for some clever way of using the players available which negates the need of a big target man who hits himself in the head while frustrated more often than his feet connect with the ball.

Another player who cannot play at this intense level. He could get sold to a Porto, Genoa, Fiorentina, Monaco and score about 20-30 a season but at this level he doesnt have the required attributes.

Needs to be one of the first sold in January or the summer. Losing him will bare no consequences on this club. Thanks for choosing Everton on fifa when you were a kid mate but thats not enough to play for Everton.

He scored 21 in two seasons in serie a, it would be quite the improvement in form to go back there and score 30 in one.

Not played well so far this season. If you play him then you have to play to his strengths or its pointless. He thrives on the quick through ball and makes decent runs off the centre halves. He's hardly had any decent balls to run onto. Made a good run at Anfield, clean through against the goalie and Gana over hit his pass. Neither Barry nor Beto are benefitting from the chop and changing. Personally, at the minute, I'd give Barry a run of games and use Beto off the bench, along with Alcaraz who he's got a decent understanding with. Then he's playing against tired legs and gets a bit more space.

I genuinely think we would end up with more meaningful possession in the final third if Beto ceased attempting to "control" the ball whenever it is played into him, and instead just stood perfectly still, allowed the ball to strike some part of his his body, and then the rest of the supporting attackers could pick up any scraps from an occasional lucky bounce

I had naively convinced myself pre-season that they'd only given him the number 9 shirt until they sign a proper striker towards the end of the transfer window. 😔

A competition winner would have put some effort in
I don’t think it’s the lack of effort, it’s the lack of footballing ability, I’ve seen better control from dogs down the park than this guy. He was almost played through the other night although he was right edge of the box but he managed to fumble his way all the way over the goal line. It was atrocious play, a half decent player would have held the ball up, maybe got a shot off or even managed to win a corner but this guy oh no.

Beto is only any good with the ball either crossed for him to head at goal or played through on the ground for him to run onto. We don't play like that so we need to either change the way we play or sell him and get a new striker who can win flick-ons and hold the ball up. Barry looks pretty bad as well not sure what he'd shown in the past to justify the fee.

The fragility he plays like, a house of cards on legs, a balancing act fearful of a gust of wind. A little bit of brawn, some brutality, strength, application against those that've come to kick you. Isn't game for the fight at all.
