2025/26 David Moyes

Europe has to be the aim. It's not that not getting there would be a disaster and failure, but it really isn't that big of a jump to be in the shake up for it. We've finished 12th and 13th in terms of points won the last 2 years, going to 8th/9th isn't a stratospheric leap that's beyond imagination.

The aim for this season? Or some time in the future?

I've no problem with it being a long term goal, anyone who was expecting that this season is getting way ahead of themselves and is only going to be upset and disappointed because their expectations were unreasonable and unrealistic.

The aim for this season. Don’t confuse aims and expectations, they’re not the same thing at all so using them interchangeably doesn’t work. Aiming for 11th basically means 14th would be acceptable, which is utterly ludicrous considering we’ve been above that for 2 years.

sadly the pied piper recruits more reactionaries to his band of merry morons by the day. Lucifer himself is green with envy at his ability.

Wanting him gone right now is just the lowest common denominator reaction. On the other hand, there’s a small group who treat Moyes like he’s the second coming. The truth is, he’s fine, good enough to see us through until the end of the season. I’ll be happy if TFG decide to move on after that.
This is precisely it.

Moyes is competent - but he's also risk averse and conservative. It's fine to play the percentages after the four years we have just had, but then? We can't remain traumatised and wedded to he past. Let him "stabilise" us this season - but we need to have a succession plain in place soon for the summer. Keeping him beyond that is just comfort zone stuff and betrays a massive lack of imagination. We couldn't gamble under Kenwright - but there is no reason that applies under the Friedkins.

I think as long as it's an aim and not an expectation that's fine.

There's definitely some who seem to be expecting Europe which is madness to me.

Or he has an opinion that doesn’t align with yours. There are fans who agree with what he’s said!
Yeah. It's that sort of conservatism that hold us back.

It was founded by Moyes back in 2002 this conservatism.

We should 'just get safe and leave it at that'.

The feller has been an utter menace to this club's true traditions.

If he's the best the Friedkins can attract next summer, they will have failed.
"Failed"? That seems a rather arbitrary designation based on the manager rather than the more important measurements of progress like league position.

If he's still in the job next summer then they're happy with what he's doing and I expect we are seeing progress.

Id expect the owners of Roma to understand what can and cannot be built in a day.

Yeah, we should piss an moan that we aren't in the Champions League after a year lads.

NSNO means Nothing But The Best Will Do and if we aren't winning the league in 3 years then it's piss stained bedsheets on Bramley Moore Wall.

If Deez Friedkin's have the dough they say they do they lid....

This what I read from you angry super bloos.

The fascination with having David Moyes as our manager just because hes been at the club for such a long time is one of delusion and false optimism. The club needs to move on from him and get a serious manager and back him with quality players.

This is the first manager under the new owners who seem to be more competent than our last but they need to axe Moyes cut throat style. Moyes has never been a winner and never will be. Hes managed 1,177 games across 27 seasons and has only mustered a very low profile Conference League. That is not the calibre of manager required to ascend us into the top places of the table.

Moyes has never changed his ways and never will. His style of football does not suit a top side. We take absolutely zero risks. We had the game last night under control 1-0 and we begin to sit back and let West Ham back in the game. We were too cowardly to look for a second goal to dominate the game. The fact that we couldn't capitalize on West Ham's struggles at home after the last 2 games is abysmal.

I know our struggles in on the field incompetency isnt all down to the manager. We have about 5 players in that 11 that cannot play Premier League football, but the fact that Moyes cannot conjure up a plan after going up is absolutely shocking.

There are a lot of problems still at the club being masked by the introduction of the new stadium, but the first one that needs addressing is the manager. Not good enough. Never was and never will be.

Yeah I think European qualification as an expectation is daft. For me my expectation is to move into the 8th-10th bracket, I think bottom half would be very disappointing but obviously the margins can be very fine so I’m not going to lose my head if we finish 11th by a couple of points or whatever.
