2025/26 David Moyes

Dave … he can class them as his glory years if he wants …

Like starmer and Kim jung ung … you don’t actually have the right to tell people what they are allowed to think
taking him far to serious, it's much easier taking the pish. tying him to a position he's chosen previous is like plaiting diarrhoea, he heel turns faster than wwf wrestlers, even more scripted. I find it very funny, presumably he's a grown man.

We're expecting Moyes to do things he's never done in 30 year career as manager.

He doesn't get his sides to try and win games in the first 20-30 mins.
He doesn't get his sides to kill games off when they're on top.
He doesn't make creative, positive subs to change a game.

He's here for 2 more seasons. It'll be pretty dull but we should finish mid table.

I'm ok with that. I never expected anything else when he came back.

I think we all knew what Moyes was going to do and what he can do. He has a ceiling though and will only take us so far.
I see comments saying he's improved us from last year. I mean, he has, but it was such a low bar! What Dyche and the two managers before him had done here was criminal. Moyes has got us playing better football than what we witnessed under Dyche but it's not really something to shout about.

I reckon his almighty turn around from January to May has tainted the size of the job. Had we done ok and been comfortable with a few games to go then the ceiling wouldn't have been raised so far. As it was we were 6th in the form table from what was it fourth bottom form? I can't recall such a turn around since the west ham Tevez miracle (what a dirty piece of business that was).

18 players out, 9 in.

Significantly less numbers to use, a lot of settling in, a new stadium to break in, last minute signings. Realism isn't Everton fans strong point.

We've seen a few spells of progressive entertaining play, eventually we'll see that stuff stitched together for a full half, then for an hour, then up to the subs and a change in play. Then maybe some plan B stuff to mix it up. Like everything it's about time and entitlement. T'was ever thus.

End if the day and i rate the job has done here , has a big part of transfers so not bringing in fb who can make an impact in the team and no pace. Even another cf does atm look to be costing us

Look, he’s done a decent job and sorted us out defensivley, but we need to see more now and kick on. Square pegs in round holes is ok for a short time, but it cannot be plan A.

His use of the squad and subs is horrendous, and hands the impetus to the opposition when they bring legs on and use all 5 subs.

Alcaraz should be getting more minutes

Let’s try a different system perhaps, move JOB back to cb, play with proper wing backs and get two 10s near to whoever you play st, and start putting the ball in the box faster.

I love Grealish and nidaye but they Fanny about and need to beat their man about 15 times, allowing the defence to get sorted, instead of whipping a ball in after beating their man, while the opposition are facing their goal.

We are far to predictable and easy to defend against, even with the better footballers like KDH, Jack, Ndiaye and Dibling that we’ve signed.

100% this.
Garner is an intelligent footballer and he would do a good job at right back like Nunez at City and other centre mids are doing at right back. He's better in the middle but he will have to suck it up due to the recruitment team.

I'm amazed other teams haven't done that to O'Brien before. Kick the ball 10 yards beyond him and skin him in a foot race.

Now that the blue print is out on him (which was obvious) imagine what Doku will do against him in a couple of weeks. Thankfully Palace don't have Eze any longer and Sarr plays down the right.
Yes Garner might plug the hole at right back but leave a bigger hole in centre midfield.

Glory in football terms...and especially for this club = silverware.

It just does.
In general, yes, but there can also be glorious victories that do not result in titles. A few spectacular derby wins would be glorious, but this manager doesn't tend to do that: The Andy Johnson derby being the obvious exception that proves the rule. To be fair to him, any derby win during his tenure has been against the odds. I just wanted to see us compete against them last week - give it our all and make a contest of the game from the off. He didn't even manage that. It wouldn't be glory to do that and lose - but it would be honourable and worth getting behind in the way "stability" isn't.

I'm all for stability - but does turning up at Anfield and putting out your best side in the League Cup preclude that? Not for a moment.

I doubt we were allowed to get anything from the derby.

But Leeds and Villa are certainly opportunities missed.

Especially that Villa game, it is more on the mentality side. We need urgency. We need more proactive subs. We need better counter attacks & set pieces.

Let's win the next 2 games and build on a momentum. Set the standard high.
Post west ham game... Your thoughts...

I thought we tried, BUT lack of cutting edge is obvious.

The concerning thing is after however long, no-one seems to be able to reliably link up with Beto,or Barry albeit he's had much less game time.

Big concern. Like is the guy just not making good runs, or is he doing what's being asked of him?

Early-ish days for Dibling, Jack and KDH, hopefully they can get him running and linking up well, the effort is there.

Biggest issue he has is making our new style of play work for the strikers. Teams are more cautious playing against us and there’s less space in behind - doesn’t work for Beto and yet to see for Barry. He needs to figure that out fairly quickly
