Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

You basically walk around with a digital id in your pocket. I'm not bothered as I don't do anything I'm not supposed too and I don't have a passport or driving license, so I don't have photo ID, I don't mind but I understand why most people don't want it, it seems very intrusive and opens the door for more government baby sitting or worse.

Criminals with nefarious intentions will exploit it probably as well. Data breaches happen frequently.

Pretty much where I'm at but I readily accept that I don't understand the nuances of living in NI @Armaghtoffee
In a nutshell, over half the population are Irish, not British, a protection enshrined in the Good Friday Agreement where we can in effect choose our nationality. On that basis alone the ID scheme cannot be implemented.

Morning. It's a bit cold today, winter jacket time on walks in the morning and shorts by tea time, very weird lol.

I'm feeling a bit low and it's mad how much it can affect everyday tasks, I just don't have the energy or inclination to do anything. I'm also finding the negativity a bit much, I struggle enough without reading how the sky is falling constantly.

So I bought some meat from an online butcher called "The Meat Man" and the quality of it wasn't as good as I expected, especially the pork loin steaks which are very very thin. I am going to give different ones a try rather than pay supermarket prices, although the meat I normally get from tesco is of better quality than this one. Next I'm trying "Best Meat UK"

Sorry for the veggies here, I enjoy meat.

Daisy is ok, not much phases her, she's still a little nob 'ed who takes the mick on walks, now autumn is coming, the flopping down and rolling around should stop soon.

That's all I've got, such is my exciting life.
Pick one bright spot in the day and tell us all T ,tomorrow two and let's see how we get on . Stay strong that man

I’m not to bothered about IDcards, although Mrs bl may be more in favour after our experience in July when we were in Munich. We decided to travel from Munich to Salzburg , Austria for the day , and when Mrs bl suggested we take our passports I said we wouldn’t need them , we’re already in Europe , more chance of losing them. There were no problems going, but on the way back we noticed five policemen getting on the train in Salzburg and about 20 mins later arrived in our carriage and the Germans around us were offering their ID cards. I only had my UK Drivers License, which I offered to the young policeman, he immediately turned to his boss , the one with the gun, and told him it was a Driving Licence. “ So , you don’t have a passport when you go into another country ? “ said the big guy. I held my hands up , apologised and said I thought you didn’t need one once you were in Europe, all the time keeping one eye on Mrs bl who looked ready to dob me in with a “ I told you we should take our passports “. The big boss looked at me , appraised the situation and said “ Next time”, and moved on .
The German lady in the seat next to me explained they don’t carry passports but do need to carry IDs.

We have them as I said T ,Finland is the capital of hacking I heard from my son and yet we all live happily with these , we can also put the reg of a car into an app and it tells you who the owner is but for some reason these are not exploited on the common man . The benefits of ease of access to everything seems to outweigh the claims by would be criminals not wanting them .The intrusivity is a joke though isn't it when we sign up to everyman and his dog having access to our details .

Good morning all. Yesterday was a trip to Rhodes Town on the local bus. It was full of tourists all having the same idea. We had a walk round the harbour which is one of my most favourite places and had lunch. We also went on a little hour long boat trip on a replica 18th Century boat. That was fun. A pattern appears to be developing though. Neither of us had any idea how to get back to the bus terminal or what number bus! We got a taxi back 🤣.
The room next door to us is now occupied by a couple in their 80s. We were chatting to them across the balcony and discovered that they are from Liverpool and live in St Michael's near the old Garden Festival site. This is very familiar territory for me - and will be for any of the South Liverpool gang who post here. We spent the night drinking with them. They met at the Grafton 43 years ago, second marriage for both of them- she is a retired Civil Servant.
One of our regular posters runs a bar in Rhodes Town. My little grey cells aren't functioning but he used to have a pet owl if that helps.

And Cal couldn't go there without investing in some gold jewellery. The gold has a high carat content was the excuse she always gave.😀

So Daisy's living off pork loin steaks for the next few weeks. Well it makes a change from seagull poo.😀

Are you staying at Marnie's hotel?

The bus terminal is just outside the old city wall by the tourist information point - bit late now but you could have messaged me 😂

Who'd have thought it - virtually near neighbours to you .....and who admits to meeting in the Grafton ? Very brave.

Have a brilliant time.
Ah Marnie. That's the guy. Je suis Fred.😀

Good morning all. Yesterday was hot. The breeze had dropped making it feel very very warm. We had planned to walk into Afandou- about 20 minutes away but Mr F (wuss!) said his feet hurt. Neither of us were mentally prepared for another bus trip so we hung out in the hotel around the pool. Our new best friends were also there.
Last night was Greek night - the only entertainment that the hotel does. The family who own the hotel put it on. I saw the cook playing a balalaika, the young lad who seems to be the restaurant dogsbody ( he's about 12) did a bit of traditional dancing with his younger sisters, the barman also did some Greek dancing and the whole thing was presided over by the patriarch aka Crazy Billy who danced while holding a table in his teeth! Our new friends sat with us for the evening. New revelations included that he had been a spiritualist teacher at the church on Park Road. Fascinating.
