2025/26 David Moyes

We'd changed almost every single area and partnership on the pitch- striker, wingers, midfield, goalkeeper and the cherry on the top a 36 year old right back in the left back position.

I'm not sure if I was actively trying to lose the game I could have come up with many more changes.

Its tiring isn't it LL, watching it all unfold in slow motion and knowing how it was going to play out and there's nothing to do but watch.

But

You're trying to have your cake and eat it. You want us to go on a long cup run just to say I told you so, while wetting your kecks tonight over a result that was predictable as every other season in the league cup.

And why do you think it was predictable? Because we've seen it so often from the Moyesiah. How many times has he entered this competition now as Everton manager?

I don't expect us to win a trophy. And certainly I wouldn't expect Moyes to. But I expect him to put out his best team to give him as good a chance as possible to win tonight. And I expected him to get the best out of the players he did put out. He failed on every count.

It's called hope, we all know Moyes is a bottler but you definitely can't win anything if your not still in the actual competition!
This is why I'm not anymore than a bit annoyed about it. He most likely wasn't going to win the comp, he quite often does bottle the big matches, someone described Moyes as a comfy pair of slippers and I'm fine with that for a season whilst we rebuild our squad, get full backs and a striker and some quality depth to our bench and look for happier and successful days.

It's a disastrous appointment.

I think when he started bitching from the US pre-season tour they must have realised what a blunder they'd made appointing him. They've learned at their leisure that his ego outpaces his ability to manage by a country mile. They must be kicking themselves now.

But Im looking forward to the day in the not too distant future when they correct that blunder and hand Moyes his P45 and a kick up the arse back up to Scotland. I'll celebrate that day.
There was a moment in the Kinnear interview with TTV where he made a point about Moyes moaning to the media and how 'he might have done it differently' and then later talking about the volume of players rejected by Moyes. It was framed as high standards but I felt the inference was on the difficulty of Moyes' approach to recruitment.

I think we might shake hands and move on at the end of his contract.
