2025/26 David Moyes

I feel like we are the cause of our downfall. I wouldn't mind if we went out there tonight and tried to win. It's losing the way we did. On the back of a derby defeat, being belittled by 59000 fans, it should inspire you to want to thrash Wolves and move into the next round. Tonight reminded me of Leeds and players thinking they only have to show up. There was no desire to win, there's no drive in these players, go out there and be the best you can possibly be.

I thought it was much worse than Leeds. Their fans and players were up for it that night. Wolves couldn't be bothered but somehow they still managed to be more bothered than us.

Anything other than a convincing win against westham and the season will be looked at very different.

Lost at a poor Leeds, very lucky against Brighton, very lucky against wolves , what now seems a poor result against villa , derby defeat and out the cup.

So why are you so upset at getting knocked out now instead of progressing through more rounds and risking injury, fatigue and suspension to the small pool of quality we have.
Because the longer you stay in the competition, the more chance even somebody as cautious, risk-averse, and self-sabotaging as Moyes can get lucky.

What are we worried about injuries for? We will be playing one match a week for most weeks this season. We're not likely to be relegated. The manager left himself down big time tonight.

100% mate, they completely bottled the appointment and went for mr comfortable. Not only that they upended the whole structure of the club for him.
It's a disastrous appointment.

I think when he started bitching from the US pre-season tour they must have realised what a blunder they'd made appointing him. They've learned at their leisure that his ego outpaces his ability to manage by a country mile. They must be kicking themselves now.

But Im looking forward to the day in the not too distant future when they correct that blunder and hand Moyes his P45 and a kick up the arse back up to Scotland. I'll celebrate that day.

If Moyes was a new manager who'd never managed us before you would have more of a point. But we've all watched Moyes for 10 years at Everton and we know him inside out. Half a good season isn't going to change Davek's mind and to be honest it's not going to change mine. Moyes is the master of the great half season when it counts for nothing.

He picked Barry didn't he? His track record on strikers is pretty poor so I won't hold my breath.
yea, no.

Because the longer you stay in the competition, the more chance even somebody as cautious, risk-averse, and self-sabotaging as Moyes can get lucky.

But
Yes, Moyes can never win trophies for Everton. He just doesn't and won't.

You're trying to have your cake and eat it. You want us to go on a long cup run just to say I told you so, while wetting your kecks tonight over a result that was predictable as every other season in the league cup.
