I oscillate between favouring Hergest ridge and ommadawn as my favorite, almost on a daily basis! Have you heard "return to ommadawn" - his retirement piece ... simply magnificent.
Yes I'm the same re favourite Oldfield - I put Incantations in there as well.

Yep, I had Hergest Ridge in my list, and it's such an incredible album, and really addictive. As much as I've played it, it never gets old. While Tubular Bells was obviously a classic, it doesn't have the same replay value, IMHO. I picked up an original pressing of Hergest for £4 that's in great condition... it's quite easy to find after so many people offloaded it back in the day. The orchestral version is worth a listen too, but more out of curiosity.

I love Ommadawn too (and Return, despite its weird artwork). "On Horseback" is such a brilliant coda to the record after the main piece has finished.

Great choices.

Relaxin , Workin and Cooking were a wonderful trilogy of Miles records. All the more remarkable because he knocked them out quickly to fulfill his recording contract with Prestige and to enable him to join Columbia.
