Just finished Blumhouse's 'The Wolf Man'.


It's Blumhouse, so it's either good, or crap.

I quite enjoyed it! Very little faff, no hours of exposition, good creature effects, good small cast.

The problem with anything to do with Werewolves, is the same as Vampires, it`s got to be really extra special or a completely different take, to be any good, as both genres have been done to death.

I`m struggling to to think of the last really decent Werewolf film - American Werewolf, Dog Soldiers, Ginger Snaps, The Howling ?

Dog Soldiers is the only good one. I also liked the black-and-white Werewolf by Night but not for everyone.

The best visual werewolves in movies for me are the ones in Underworld. Sick of them always looking skinny and like a dog.

Beating Hearts

Probably a bit too long, which is why critics liked it less than the audience, but it was an easy watch on a sick day with a great soundtrack (loads of The Cure songs) and well filmed

I gave In the Line of Fire a go for the first time. Thought it was a decent enough movie with very good actors.

The best of all is American Werewolf. Still in my opinion THE defining movie for that sub-genre.

For some reason 'Titanic' is on film4 again 9pm tonight. So a much newer film that hasn't been shown in the actual hundreds of times since its release 23 years ago is bumped late night...

Decided to give Dog Soldiers a go, since you are pretty much spot on with your choices, etc.
At first, I didn't think it would be any good, but I ended up liking it.
