Viewed as a luxury player that didn’t offer much in terms of work rate or off the ball play I think. Probably fair, but when he was given free reign to do his thing he was one hell of a player, shame we never got to see it for the England team I think.

Also a shame he’s turned out to be a proper plonker these days, but that’s more an off the field issue it seems
