Are you saying we should pay what clubs want for players even if it unreasonable ?

Didn’t we do this a few years ago and ended up with a couple of PSR charges ?
No, but if we can't agree a deal after three or four weeks we should simply move on and conclude our business elsewhere. Playing chicken with a critical position whilst we lose matches (to Leeds, Leeds ffs) seems like a silly thing to do.

That’s a big if he turns out to be a worldie though it could just as easily go the other way.

£50m for a prospect still means we have to develop him into a £100m player, so unless he is Messi/Maradona love child then no
Seems strange how we have been screaming out for years for a change to the transfer policy of buying players on the way down, and yet when we attempt to do that people seem to need guarantees that the layer bought will reach there potential!

For £50m I think we be really sure they can, we can’t spunk money around like a City or Chelsea so if we spend that on a player then we have to be very confident said player can do what’s required.

At the end of the day he is still a prospect and not a top class player (yet)

And if he was a top class prospect he would be out of our reach. We can’t be sure at any amount of money that someone will make it.

If we don’t get players on the way up, then we don’t get that player at all until he’s on the way down. Can’t have it all ways!

Thing is getting a player on the way up at £50m ?

That normally gets you an oven ready international so it’s a gamble and if he doesn’t make it to a £100m player and with the rumoured sell on clause it’s not a good deal

If they won’t budge we should be moving on, there are plenty of RW players out there so what are we waiting for this ?

They wouldn’t be replacing Eze with Dibling? They would be using the profit on the sale of Eze to fund buying a good player, beefing out their squad with quality for a busy season and with the prospect of making profit on him in the future.

We will need more than bargaining power if Palace rock up and pay exactly what Southampton want with no faffing whatsoever. The player could also see that as a sign that they really want him.

If Palace are in for him (thats a big fecking if considering where the rumours are coming from) they aren't going to rock up willing to pay £50m with a 25% sell on fee straight off the bat.

Buying young is fine - but if you are going to spend 50m, you'd need to be fairly certain it will work out.
