I am only referring to the stupid bid we made in the first place, again according to reports.

Ridiculous tactic and typically Everton to low ball by so much. We should not be so far off their valuation and like the Grealish talks really had this conversation at the beginning.
What? What difference does it make? We want to get him for as little as possible. We don't lose anything by making a low bid other than trying to set the parameters of the negotiation. Honestly, I feel like some people have never negotiated a deal in their lives.

I think Southampton are a bit pissed that were are the only club in for him, well
That’s what it seems as nobody else has bid for him.
All this talk of 100mil,
I bet their owners thought it would be the auction of all time,
With all the top clubs throwing bids in all over the gaff.

Agreed.

I can see them continually moving the goalposts.

They don’t want to sell to ‘little Everton’ - they are desperate for a big club to come in with a bid.

Last thing we need is a long stand off like the Gnonto and Zaha sagas.

Yes, but you also know exactly what the club did wrong at every step without knowing what the club did at every step.

Doesn’t even matter does it. The end result is that we’re going into the season without a right winger at the football club. If I’d suggested that would be the case to you a few weeks ago you’d have shot it down in flames.

Yeah I feel like that too, funnily enough. Scary thing is we seem to have employed them as a recruitment team.

Typical Everton bidding......

Worth 100m (according to Southampton 6 months ago).... Everton... let's bid 27m.

No real surprise Southampton play hard ball.
In January they were looking for £50/£55m not £100m.

We went in low following their relegation. And have then worked up trying to find some middle ground/a payment format that they are happy with.

You whinge when we don’t sign players, you whinge we get linked to players you specifically don’t like, you are now whinging that we have been making bids above our record transfer amount.

No one wants to be as short as we are.

But what good does it do constantly complaining about it while driving around in a truck full of uninformed hindsight?

We are where we are, and none of us know what deals we’ve tried to do or why they didn’t happen.

Yes
I do think it’s slightly different, Zaha was I think about 27 and maybe he wanted a champions league team Arsenal were also In for him

And Gnonto we had no money really,
Basically offering a small down payment.

He needs to 1. Go on strike, 2. Publicly revoke his support of Southampton, and 3. Book a room in The Titanic and wait there until such time that Everton can agree a deal with Saints.

Haha good one.

You do not start off stupidly low.

Someone put an example of buying a house and us putting an offer in of 105k ish on a 200k house…. Or better yet a house which was worth 400k 6 months ago according to reports.

You gain absolutely nothing from putting in such a ridiculously low offer. Sales is all about win-win.

You annoy one party and they are always going to play hard ball unless they are in a desperate position.

There is only one party in a desperate position in this case and guess what it’s not Southampton.

Please do not try teaching me how to sell / negotiate.

Ridiculous offer and we gained absolutely 0 from it.
