It wasn't fake news...we were clearly interested, but perhaps wasn't as advanced as he suggested. I agree that there was ulterior motive as the agent player must be starting to be impatient waiting for the champions league team. Perhaps that will now create a sense of urgency and a champions league will come for him...not so sure that will be the case though. The top 6 in England have already spent a significant amount and not sure they would go for another big signing, one that is unproven yet at the top level.
