How do you get through your work day?

Before I retired/gave up the ghost with teaching.....

Coffee ... lots ... then a bit more.
Avoid adults as long as possible into the day
Avoid kids as long as possible
Do some planning, check equipment for the day,
Teach ... remember that I enjoyed that bit - especially the bit where they recoil from coffee breath.
Eat lunch, drink tea, do some planning / marking / equipment ordering*
Do some bollocking on behalf of others
Teach again
Drink tea
More bollockings/detentions for others / clear up blood stains.
Planning / marking / exam entries or worse: get through pointless boring meetings by imagining some diy I could do later, or thinking how i could repair some of the lab kit, while quietly glaring at the woman who always chirps up with some vendetta she has about some kids during "any other business," in the hope that she won't.

Now.....
Watch you tube / scoff breakfast / drink 2 pints of tea
Fiddle in the shed/car/maintain the house
Enjoy a coffee. Think about lunch. Make coffee break last until lunch.
Eat lunch
Listen to the hifi / now the lawn / clear out belly fluff.

Would recommend

*in the days before the tories were elected
Look busy for when the missus comes home from work. ALWAYS look busy.

.

Having a laugh, not piss talking, always helped, when I worked.
When buying newspapers was a thing, doing the crosswords always killed time, but the advent of Google on phones killed that.
It's probably more difficult to have a laugh because most penny pinching has took staffing levels to a minimum were your time is limited to even go the toilet.

I sit in my office, spread some important looking papers over my desk, spend the next 7 hours intermittently picking each of them up and staring blankly at them for a few minutes before placing them back on my desk in a different arrangement, I do this for 7 hours and then it’s time to go home.
Putting a pen behind your ear is a good way of looking busy.

I've used this one for years.
