Solanke and Ibe are total opposites. Bournemouth got a great deal for one but wasted money on the other. Howe has always been good in the transfer market generally.

On the contrary, I think Brownhill will be an excellent signing. It's about building a strong squad, not cherry picking overpriced, over the hill galacticos. Think about Peter Reid, Trevor Steven, Kevin Sheedy, Paul Bracewell, Tim Cahill, Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines, Steven Pienaar, Lee Carsley et al. How many of those Everton legends were household names before they were part of our two most recent successful squads? I'd go so far as to say that in terms of effect, Brownhill will be akin to that of Tim Cahill.
