Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

One started with very high expectations and sometimes didn't deliver but always felt destined for better things. The other started with low expectation and was written off, and has 'come good' and will likely not go much beyond our level.

It's about perspective.
In fairness Beto gets more than his fair share of abuse too and is a different character, gives the impression he bleeds blue whereas Lukaku was always going to be short term.

I know we're not drinking at the same trough the as those near the top (or indeed, near-bottom) of the table, but feel like we could do with a nice statement signing. If we bring in people like Fred and Coufal now, we're going to struggle to attract the likes of McAtee (he might be a pipe dream, but his ilk). Doesn't look very ambitious, does it? By all means, at the end of the window, when we need bodies, bring them in. But if we're serious about pushing on, now's the time to go for it.
Grealish would be an interesting one, for both parties. But his wage is just so far out of our league I can't see it happening. Surely he'd have suitors that would get closer to what he's earning than us? City won't fund half, he hasn't flopped that badly. And as much as we can say he could come to us for half of his wage for the love of the game or something, that isn't realistic.

Besides his wages, I think a move to us for Grealish would be fantastic for him.

To us maybe.

They are in the CL and are signing mid-table manager / player ?

From their fans perspective - they don't show nearly enough.

24/25 Dominic Solanke £64m
23/24 Brennan Johnson £55m
James Maddison £46m
22/23 Richarlison £58m

They have bought a forward for around £60m the past 3 seasons and got progressively worse, they have had 3 other managers in that time. Who is to say this time wont be the same?
