Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

These links with players Antonio etc needs to stop, the only thing that will make it stop if the Friedkins have an ounce of ambition and start making some statement signings, because as upto now we have tried to keep Doucoure young Coleman Keane and DCL, we have been linked to Coufal Antonio.

Come on Everton this is a reset so let's start acting like a club that wants to compete, the players above are simply not good enough
Even easier just ignore the blatant Clickbait links ha.

It's not the Friedkins fault you're reading them you silly goose.

We're tight PSR wise so I don't think they can do anything until July even if they wanted to.

So might be best to ignore the made up rumours for now

I genuinely think we have a chance of finally bringing him to Everton.

I see Antonio is this windows Che Adams/Danny Ings/ Wout Weghorst, who people fume all summer about us signing and we inevitably don’t sign.

A lot of heads melted that summer when we were apparently certain to get Lingard on 200k a week. Meanwhile in reality we could barely afford to pay the meter and he went to Forest. Even then though he’d have probably been our best player, but if you propose an English player over 27 who’s played in the prem before on here it’s akin to taking a dump on someone’s doorstep such is the vitriol. Never mind that the likes of Neville, Barry and Tarkowski were/are excellent for us.

Lingard was on a downward trajectory already by then. I don't think he'd have been our best player.. not even close. Shone brightly for half a season at West Ham then was more interested in Tik Tok.

Agree with those you mention though. All great servants. GBaz was phenomenal. Loved him.

You're right, of course, but they were all reasonably priced.

Barry cost a nominal fee after about £1m
Phil Neville cost £3.5m
Tarks was a free transfer

English players in their late 20s are fine (and actually we could do with one or two more if we look for younger profiles as well), but they need to be cost-effective. You can't be paying big transfer fees for players 27 or over and handing them big wages as you'll never get your money back. We've been down this road enough now to have the badge.

Exactly, but every window it seems that there’s a selection of players linked by the media that we never end up actually getting and people on here go mad about it.

We never did get Lingard
We didn’t get Phillips
We never went for Che Adams
Or Rodriguez from Burnley
Or Charlie Taylor
Or Shane Long

already this summer we’ve had links to Cresswell and Antonio, the only shock is we haven’t been linked to James Ward Prowse again although I’m sure that will pop up at some point.

We hardly ever actually buy these players.

I think Barry’s loan fee at the time was 5 mill which 10 years ago wasn’t inconsiderate but he was a good player in a position we needed. Fans should judge players for what they do in blue before complaining about them before they’ve even kicked a ball for us.
