Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Maupay was 100% signed by thewell in his first transfer window.

RUBEN VINAGRE

ARNAUT DANJUMA

JACK HARRISON

JESPER LINDSTROM

DWIGHT McNEILL

and there are other signings that the jury is still out on like beto and chemitti.

O'Brien was basically given to us by textor because he thought he was buying us. So im not giving him Credit there.

Onana, ndiaye and tarks are really the only ones hes signed im happy with tbh
I'd have danjuma back. Seems like a Moyes signing.

Read a fair bit about this guy. He really only had one season with getafe. Before he was playing non professional football in the third tier of Spanish football. Saying that, he has a very high ceiling, very raw and young. Interestingly, he was critical to getafe survival this season as they did not get points when he was not playing (through suspension...not many injuries i believe). Just had his first start for the eagles against russia as the advanced midfielder and played well. I could see him as the "next" doucoure for us. I think getafe would be prepared to take less than the 25 millions euros clause as they need to sell to balance the books.

I see why the Doucoure comparisons are there and we were also linked a few months back as well.

I think he's got a release clause of €21mil.

For me, he looks more of a (young) Gana. Someone to come into the CM role and hunt the ball down. I dont think his positioning is very good (yet) and he seems to relish battles/duels.

Seems to be someone to bring in and rotate with Gana and learn from him on the training ground.

I won’t labour the point, but I hate the way our recovery is said to be so far away that it’s going to take 500 billion pound to resolve and won’t occur for at least another five years. Meanwhile, Villa and Forest have somehow managed to eclipse the mighty midtable Brighton and secure European football in less than 12 months, with it being Champions League qualification in Villa’s case.

I think KWP is a bit crap tbh. The only reason people are harping on about him is because he’s free and has a double-barrelled surname. I think and hope that we will be looking for much better than KWP.
Fingers crossed we can surprise a few people in the coming seasons.

Think harrison was a decent deal just because of the position of the club and did do a job for the team. Also 100% was right not to get him on a full time deal, mcneil aswell imo has been a good move has been one of the important players in the team. Does not mean going forward he will be, maupay was also done becuase of lampard i am pretty sure wanted Guirassy. I was always on the fence with thelwell becuase always flet could have done more the lack bringing in real pace during his time here i cant ever accept

Yeah but, and I could be wrong, I thought Santos was one of the players effectively signed for Chelsea and given to Strasbourg, whereas Diarra is one of the Strasbourg players who may transfer to Chelsea if he continues to do well? Happy to be corrected.

Yes thats why i wrote about Chelsea being open to offers at the end. Santos looks a £40mil player to me (ability and potential)

Thierno Barry, mentioned more and more.
I think we need a song for him.
To tune of "I love you baby"...

I think McNeil, Ndiaye, Beto and Tarkowski have been good signings. Whilst there may have been the Textor influence with O'Brien, you can't rule out Thelwell's potential influence as I doubt many people will know what really went on with that deal.

Vinagre was only ever brought in as a back-up, whilst the others did not have the best of times with us.

Looking at the list of players Thelwell signed with us, the conclusion which I draw is that he did some good business with his hands tied behind his back whilst bringing in high fees on players like Iwobi and Onana (another Thelwell signing who was alright for us).

Kenny Tete would be my choice of free right backs, i dont dislike KWP though and filling that 'right back, left back' role Ashley Young did could be a decent signing

Agree with your first comments too, we have Englands number one in goal, the 4th best defense in the league 2 years running (the best if you take out the first 5 games of last season'. Idrissa Gana Gueye & Iliman N'Diaye plus a manager who knows what he's doing.

We aren't that far off being in that 8th -12th bracket, a couple of wins here and there are the only separator really.
The difference between a £20m footballer and a £70m footballer is not as big as the cost difference either. The likes of N'Diaye & Jake O'Brien prove that

Kenny Tete is a good shout for a right-back signing. He would offer us an attacking right-back option, which is something we definitely need.

I also agree with your point on how far off we are from competing with other teams. If we can find a few more decent players on the cheap (including a right-sided equivalent to Ndiaye), there would be no reason for us not to be pushing into the top half of the table.

I agree but I think we can do better than 8th. I just don't think the likes of Newcastle, Forest and Villa are all that. We recently beat Forest in their own ground during their run-in for a Champions League place. We beat Newcastle, again at their own ground, during their real cup final that they desperately wanted to win to ensure their CL qualification.

All kinds of different things can happen, and there could possibly be a period in which our players have to adapt to the surroundings of our new stadium. But the idea that Forest, Newcastle and Villa are five years ahead of us is absurd imo. I think they're just as crap, or just as good, as we are!
