2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Let Calvert lewin go he is injury prone we need strikers that play regular
And can score 15`-20 goals a season
So does every team.

9 players scored 15+ this season. 6 of them were in teams fighting for champions league. 8 of them were in teams in the top 10.

It’s not that easy to just sign one when we haven’t finished top half in 5 years.

If he stays, he will be staying essentially as a 2/3rd choice.

You are being generous.

Agreed.
Therefore his contract offer needs to reflect that i.e. salary reduction time

How and I being generous?

We are quite clearly in the market for a new first choice. (Delap then the strong Barry links).

No indication Beto is leaving.

And DCL is quite clearly ahead of Chermiti based off Moyes choices at the end of the season.

So if he stays, he is effectively fighting it out with Beto for the number 2 role.

i find this so tough
i dont think he will stay but could be one that comes back to bite us on the bum
I think it's something that needs to happen though. I just can't see how he would be happy staying here, on reduced terms and not first choice any longer. It must be a bitter pill to swallow coming into your 'prime' years, only to be further down the pecking order than you have been since you were a teenager.

And on a non footballing pov- the relationship with the fans has been deteriorating for a while, in another year or two I think it will have soured completely. A fresh start elsewhere surely would be best for him on a personal level as well as a footballing one.

What are we meant to do?

Say "Yeah, it hasn't worked great the last four years but we believe fifth time's the charm, here have a raise."

If he stays the facts have to be faced we can't rely on him.

I don't think the club should offer him anymore, no way. He hasn't been up to scratch for us for years now, even though I do think there's a decent player there.

That's why I think it's best for player and club to just shake hands and part ways.

I would imagine there are a fair few teams looking at Dom on a ‘free’.
As an option he would be very attractive & cheap to any of Man U, Spurs, Villa, Arsenal or Newcastle.
Doesn’t have to be available for every game (and not every game is played like a cup final), offers something different to passing through the lines. He will have plenty of options imo, all of whom will see £23m over a 3 year contract as relatively risk free.
£150k / w to save you the maths.

Yeah they have snapped him up! These clubs don’t want crap strikers, it’s not saving money.

As if anyone would pay him 150k a week 🤣🤣🤣
