Space, and Universe...
It's scary out there, and we know so little.
We can talk about wormholes, and black holes losing mass due to Hawking radiation, supernova's exploding, the Big Bang Theory and the thought that the Universe might be 14 billion years old based on it's 'radiation signature', and the Large Hadron Collider at CERN colliding proton's into each other over and over again in the hope that we might actually discover some tangible facts about our miniscule existence...
But at the end of the day, it's mostly all hypotheses and theories. We still know next to nothing about our place in the Universe.
Our sun and our solar system is estimated to be what? About 5 billion years old? The assumption is that because our sun isn't big enough to go supernova, it won't collapse in on itself, so what don't have to worry, except that if something did happen to the sun, we wouldn't know about it, because life would be over in a split second.
We aren't standing still, our solar system is flying through the galaxy at a phenomenal speed, and there are still so many unknown variables out there!
It took a split second for the Universe to be created from on outward explosion of mass and density, aka the Big Bang Theory, 'theory' being the operative word there. Who's to say it can't all end in a heartbeat?!?
We are but a drop in the ocean... If you believe the Universe to be eternal. Our telescopes can only pick up what we can see in the observable Universe... Christ only knows what's beyond that.
Is no one else freaked out by our precarious position in this perpetuating cosmic ballet of our universal existence?!? Lads, LADS?!?!
Ok, rant over! At the end of the day, we're just apes, on a giant rock, flying through space, man...

I doubt we'll ever get definite answers.
