Transfer Rumour Jack Grealish

I just don't want this to happen. I'm tired of us being a graveyard for players. I want us to be the start of the journey and the prime year club for players.

We won’t be taking him at 300k anyway that’s a certainty.

There’s no way we’re paying that but we’ve taken so many players off the wage bill this summer that I could see us paying 100k of his wages and loaning him.

I’m not mad about it but I could see it. If DCL and Keane follow Doucoure out the door or take a major reduction it’s a huge saving, same with Harrison’s wages off the books, and who knows if Gueye has had his reduced.

Either way we have room on the wage bill and if Moyes thinks a loan could perhaps boost us up the table then maybe they’re looking at it.

Please No Everton.

I thought we had turned a corner on making silly, not to mention expensive, ‘statement’ signings like this.

A loan for a player that is desperate to make the World Cup squad is different than the purchases of Gascoigne Ginola Dele etc. for me. The danger would be if he does well and then we think about making it permanent. An initial loan with Grealish trying to prove a point could fire us up the table.

Started listening to the Blue Frontier podcast. Seems to be led by an American who is working in the scouting/recruitment industry in football. They’ve done two position reviews so far and come up with the following suggestions outside the usual carousel or PL players.

Anyone know if a) these are any good, or b) likely?

CF -
Nick Woldemate
El Bilal Toure
Yves Guessan
Promise David

RW -
Dilane Bakwa
Johan Bakayoko
Abdul Fatawu
Edon Zhegovra
Geovany Quenda

We’ll end up with Tammy Abraham & Jack Grealish on loan, won’t we? (And I wouldn’t be unhappy with that either :))

It has car crash written all over it. He's on the way down as a player.

With Harrison gone and DCL potentially on the way out it does leave us worryingly short on the hairstyle front, Grealish can definitely take advantage of the extra mirror space freed up in the dressing room.

They signed Lukaku on loan for Roma, didn’t they? Arguably a similar high-profile kind of thing.

Don't understand the negatively towards Grealish. Be a good signing. He's quality we need better quality also the player needs a new challenge. If Moyes wants him....
He hasn't put up a good season numbers wise since he played for Villa in 20/21. That's a long time ago.

Not all about numbers. He played regularly for the treble winning City team. Truth is if he wasn’t a little bit in off his best he wouldn’t be available. I don’t want a permanent signing but if he’s available on loan for a season there’s very little risk for us. It’s effectively swapping Harrison for Grealish and paying a bit extra in wages. If he’s terrible we lose nothing except a loan slot but why would he be when he’s desperate to make the World Cup and revive his career.
