2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Have we tried blaming Dyche for 4 years of crap goalscoring yet today? :coffee:
Tbh both are true - he's been crap for long periods of time *and* Dycheball was primarily to eek out a 1:0, but play for a 0:0 whenever possible. Any striker was obviously not instructed or meant to score often.

He has missed some shockers, mind.

He’s averaged 6.3 PL goals per season during his time here with an average of 26.6 games played per season.

He’s averaged 4.2 PL goals in his last 4 seasons with an average of 23.2 games played per season.

He is always up there for “big chances missed” since it became a thing.

Cant wait to see what elite level team will come in for our regularly injured, non-goalscoring centre forward.

Why not?
He can hold it up well and have a more natural finisher through the middle
Would prefer if we got a first choice RW but options
He'd be a handful at the back post for FBs too

The strange thing about the goid form under Carlo is we can't imagine Dom playing anywhere else now, but he has in the past.

look at Joelinton. Bought as a striker, not great there, brilliant midfielder now
Playing Calvert Lewin Right Wing is way off.

He’s scored 15 non penalty goals in his last 106 games. Fifteen. He is nearly at a 1 in 10 ratio.

Wheres the homophobia in that statement please?
Oh I don’t know, you’re having a bit of an Internet argument with someone and you sign it off by saying the poster probably gets aroused by the thought of the player in women’s clothing.

A) what?

B) in the context of the spat you were having, you’re stating this as being some sort of deviant behaviour by insinuating he’s attracted to another man and you’re using this as an insult. It’s the very definition of homophobia.

C) back on topic, wish him all the best for the future.

I'm not sure how accurate these stats are, but DCL appears to be up there goals-wise with "Club Legend" Duncan Ferguson.

Goal records and injury records probably very comparable.

Duncan wasn't a hero because of his goalscoring record, he was a hero because we were so bad when he came and he gave people of a certain age something to get behind. Of equal importance was probably that he embraced the city and his role as the talisman.

Dom is probably objectively not a particularly worse player than Duncan was, but he's had the benefit of being in better Everton teams (although certainly not recently), but he's never embraced the club and his role in it like Duncan did.
