2024/25 Idrissa Gueye

Late to this thread, but are people really fretting over Gueye?

Lol! It's not like he has a million suitors lined up.

I'm happy he's staying, but let's not pretend as a fanbase that he's some irreplaceable young tyro we need to lock down.
Yeah imagine being concerned about losing your player of the season on a free transfer. So weird right?

It wasn’t clear though? If it had been clear he’d have signed ages ago, the fact it’s got to this point without a new deal being agreed means it was far from clear.
It was obvious over the weekend that he was staying.

Sometimes, Evertonians seem to want to add to their own stress when the team is giving them a temporary break from it.

Genuinely pleased about this. Good injury record, legs still seem fine and is undoubtedly our best tackler. Get someone alongside him who he can give the ball to without them fouling their shorts or immediately passing it back / to the opposition and we could be in business :)

One year with an option, if the club pulled that off they’ve negotiated well.

Don’t think we’ve seen TFG give out more then 2 year contracts so far, apart from Young Harrison Armstrongs extension, even that was three with a club option.
As long as he stays! A year with an option is a great deal.

He's well worth it.

I’d like to see him get a bit of support to be honest mate, I think he played about 37 PL games last season.

If we are to benefit from experience and longevity I think we bring some around him to support him and give him a breather, let younger lads learn off him and have a year or two of succession planning.
