If we are saying 52k was all we could afford, sure, no argument. It nearly killed us.

But if we are saying 52k is enough for us and future-proofs us, nah, not for a moment. Not if we return to anything like the top table. Moderately successful clubs here in Germany, such as VfB Stuttgart or Borussia Mönchengladbach have bigger stadia than us that sell out week-in, week-out. If we have success, we won't be able to meet demand. Nice thought, mind...

. Personally I think the capacity can be raised slightly by having standing areas but that applies to all our rivals to so we can't ever catch up with them.

As far as I know, this isn't true. @Jacko93 has spoken about it many times. Some concourses at other clubs aren't big enough for the capacity of stands to be increased.

Supply and demand data will tell them that and that can only be calculated a few years down the line.

this happened at old trafford, once the corporate boxes sold, they increased prices because more business men wanted them, so it became a preserve of the richest, so to keep moderate wealthy corporate still keen they fitted out new lounges with a bar and food and what not and reorganised portions of the prime seated areas. Domino effect, the slightly higher priced season ticket holders got shifted on to the next best seats and so it went down the line. That's part of the reason they stuck that new stand up in the rafters for, they'd shifted that many legacy season tickets around to cater for the wealthiest that they needed somewhere, anywhere, to shove them - so the 'nose bleeds' it was. Money is the only thing that matters, it boils down to cold hard cash eventually.
The best bet for us currently is to enjoy our shiny new stadium, and to make it the best atmosphere experience there is. But it's a poisoned chalice, however improved the support and product are means under pressure from the ticket price of it for the privilege.
[A side thought, I wonder if there is a deal done for the corporate boxes at BMD that means they're bought outright for a calendar year - in that - whatever events and concerts are scheduled is included in the cost for that season. It'd be a clever thing to do if there is the guarantee that premium events are scheduled - considering a single ticket to Swift ended up sold for thousands, having a box at etihad, old trafford, anfield, BMD might be quite the investment][A guess, £10,000 for a box for 6 at BMD, or £14,000 for the upgraded calendar season for the extra events].

To increase what we have at BMD to what is bandied around on here, 52k to 62k, is an increase of around 20%.

So what is the purpose behind the increase?

If it's for revenue all TFG need to do is increase ticket prices by 20% then the same effect is reached with no expenditure.

However they first need to know if 52k can easily be filled match in, match out, season in, season out.

How much would people be willing to spend an a season ticket? would a 20% increase be accepted? This would push the cheapest Adult season ticket up by £128..

62,000 people buy more crap than 52,000, so your 20% ticket price increase won't match the 10,000 blue-sauce hot dogs and sundry tat the club want to flog to unsuspecting foreigners.

I think we'll have no problem filling the stadium. If we cannot fill it in a few years, the Friedkins will have failed massively because any success for us at all will add thousands to the gate.

Not everyone who gets a ticket will spend extra at the stadium and if a third of the seats are taken by kids then they might not make as much extra as you might think for the investment made. A penny saved is a penny earned etc.

Tbf Sunderland extended their stadium by 7k within 3 years of opening. However it was designed with that in mind. It can be discussed but I will be surprised if we ever make a major structural change to BM in my lifetime. Your're right that people should enjoy what we have, not yearn for something more though.

It isn't just the concourse space.... it's also the tread depths, rake angle, vomitory sizes and stairways etc.

Old Trafford had over 160 boxes last time I checked. They didn't all arrive at once, and they had quite a few before even rebuilding. We've hardly pushed the boat out in that respect tbh, which questions the whole maximising income from corporate argument.
