Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Saw an interview with Grealish the other year where he basically said exactly this - Pep doesn't like his players to lose the ball, so a lot of the risk is removed from their game. Ergo Grealish doesn't try and do stuff he would have done a few years ago.

Could that be coached out of him at 29? Dunno
For me, Grealish operates on a completely different level compared to what we currently have with the possible exception of Iliman Ndiaye, should he maintain his current form. Grealish has won almost everything there is to win and has consistently demonstrated his quality.

One of his most valuable attributes is his ability to retain possession in advanced areas, which has been a long-standing issue for us. Unlike others we've brought in before, I do not view this as another Dele Alli-type risk. Grealish still has that hunger and sharpness. His recent displays for England suggested he thrives with more freedom something Moyes would provide him. I genuinely believe he could flourish again.

He definitely suits a team that doesn't have 75% possession a lot of games
He was deadly in transition at Villa

Thing is we have NDiaye on the left wing now and he's made it his own.
Someone else suggested Macatee instead as apparently they are willing to move him on, he's exactly what we need on the Right

Not defending Grealish here, but how much of this has been drilled into him by Pep? Pep has been bloody successful, but his football in general is boring to watch imo.
He predominantly plays LM/LF… one of those positions where we have a clear starter and decent depth in cover.

I’ve never thought grelish was amazing though, rarely goes on the outside and very right footed. Though I don’t think he’s someone who wouldn’t put his all in every game - don’t think the money has got to him like it does with so many.

Saying that, wages would be too high for a loan I think, and id rather get McAtee in on a perm (PSR profits mean they wouldn’t be as stringent on pricing him).

If Everton signed Grealish ( which they won't ) I would play him at 10 and give him a free role ....never going to happen.

He will go back to Villa.

Agreed - won’t be coming to us. Moyes wants someone who closes down like Doucoure (but with things like skill, ball control and passing ability) & about 21-24 years of age.

… or maybe that’s what I want 😂😂😂

Yeah this is pretty much exactly what we need - a younger Doucoure with some actual technical skill as well.

Moyes used the players he had at his disposal, at West Ham He had paqueta who’s more of a footballer than doucoure. I think it’s a bit of myth he wants all his players to be big, strong and run around a lot a

Southampton have told Everton they want £55M for Tyler Dibling

It’s a terrible quote. We don’t even need the roof on Goodison fixing anymore.
