Transfer Rumour Liam Delap

The name ‘Liam’ just feels very underwhelming in terms of excitement levels of a footballer.

Sure, it’s a decent enough name on its own.

Pretty common British name. Know at least a good half a dozen or so Liams myself personally.

Just a very middle of the road, underwhelming name.

I reckon we could do better.
Also, his middle name is Rory, which rhymes with Tory and means 'Red King'.

Hes clearly a dirty Tory Kopite. Massive swerve.

Again - I just really hope that this doesn't become a saga over the summer as he simply isn't worth that kind of effort.

He either wants to join or he doesn't. Give us an answer either way and move swiftly on..

Beto got 9/10 this season
Ndiaye got 10

This lad got 13 for a relegated side, I’ll take that for £30m thanks very much.
I honestly just come back to this. At that fee the conversation that he is England's future No 9 is irrelevant. Were talking a transfer comparable to what Nketiah went to Palace on, Patson Daka to Leicester, Danny Ings to Villa, Scamacca to West Ham.

Say he stagnates he will be flippable at almost the same price or at a marginal loss (Moise Kean anyone?). And of course there is the possibility he continues to develop and vastly outperform that initial investment.

If he is actually all that or not is pointless as the debate itself suggests he is. Globally we are in a lackluster era for strikers, clubs constantly talking themselves in or out of them based on perception more than the material output they produce week in week out. Usually that comes with a fervor that's reflected in the evaluation, but with Delap its not. The buzz is similar to Hojlund at Atalanta, the difference is 40 million.

Its why I like how aggressive we are being on it. I think he has real logic to consider us, I think he could end up very good maybe even great but more important to that is that I expect the market will think that for the next 3 years regardless of what he does. And considering the fee he will be got on, the risks is near nonexistent unless his wages are just absurd.

Liam Delap got 12 prem goals in one of the worst prem sides ever to grace this league in his first ever full premier league season

To put that into context Danny welbeck is 34 years old and has been playing in the premier league since 2008/2009 and he’s played for both Man Utd and Arsenal in his career and this is his first season where he has ever scored 10 prem league goals.

Liam is an Irish name.

I think AI may have got the meaning of the name "Liam" slightly incorrect:

The name Liam is of Irish origin and primarily means "Desired Helmet"

I think the biggest selling point we have that actually helps us potentially land him is the one guarantee other top clubs can’t definitively offer. He walks right into the starting spot here without so much as a challenge. He was already on loan and knows what it’s like to feature in an offence. To go right to the bench and regress is not what he’s looking for.

Yeah, quite possibly. That being the case, we’re trending up while United is dropping and we offer an alluring new stadium. ManU is lucky they didn’t cross over into the relegation zone this season. I think these young guys aren’t as in awe of some of the top 6 clubs like players from 20-30 years ago. Very interesting to see what Delap chooses.
