2024/25 David Moyes

His persistence on stressing what an achievement it is to remain a premier league club (before talking about the next steps) does my head in.

WE GET IT FFS. YOU DID WELL WITH THE MATCHES YOU HAD - THATS WHY YOU WERE BROUGHT IN.

The glorification of a bang average league placing is what gets up my nose. I don’t care about the circumstances or the state the club was in when you arrived.

100%.

With Doucoure/Young and others going, it's more likely the remaining cohort in this group - Keane, DCL will be offered terms acceptable to stay.

I see a very nervy period in June with no business being done and if that's correct, I can understand a strategy of some contact extensions, just as a base of security even if most of us would rather that most of them go. We need to keep Gana absolutely.

If the terms are sensible then extending is the right thing to do under these circumstances. The individuals don't have to agree and as we've seen, this is happening anyway.

We can offer and agree some extensions in a way that shouldn't really detract at all from doing what else needs to be done this summer.

If we had a spare 400m im sure Moyes would do a complete reset, as it is we need around 13 new players and some "cheap" decisions will be made.
I've no doubt there'll be a few " cheap " decisions made . Better use of the loan market would help.

But to offer some of these that can't pass 10 yards or trap a bag of cement new contracts would be very foolish.

And if these Texans have got lolly they best stump some of it up.
Forest literally changed their whole team twice , so it can be done.

Bit worrying when he said he'd like to keep them all .
Same players got us into that position in the 1st place.
He may think he's changed them but they could revert to type at any time.
Managers lie, especially in press conferences. I think it is pretty evident that he despises some of them and can't wait until they leave. Unfortunately because of PSR a massive turn around of 14/15 players is not possible unless you are one of the Sly 6. Some will have to be kept on for the sake of pure numbers.

I'd guess the first bit just means relatively speaking, like we're offering them all some sort of contract but whether it's the type of deal they're likely to accept is a different matter. I'm all for a big reset but the truth is we need way too much to do it all in one go and realistically some compromises are going to have to be made somewhere.
We'd be daft to think there won't be compromises , as long as they are nothing like the compromises we've had to make over the last 3 to 4 seasons through the club being totally mismanaged.

Agree it won't get done in one go , but the actual standard of players coming in has to be much better than we have.

And Forest got done under PSR. Doesn’t matter how much money TFG have got to throw around, we’re still sailing close to the wind of PSR ourselves. Newcastle are the richest club in the world and will struggle to spend.

Forest had a complete fresh canvas, they increased their revenue 10 fold overnight which allowed them plenty of wiggle room in order to do what they did.

They did
But I'm a firm believer we are in a totally different place now.
Our revenue streams were none existent, the owner had done a runner and we were getting players on klarna.

We won't be in the market for 40 / 50 + mil players , I'd doubt they'd come anyway.
But I'm sure there'll will be some very astute signings and loans brought in.
We can't carry on bringing the likes of Broja & Harrison just to pad the squad out.

Just my opinion , we are 4/5 good starting players away from being a pretty decent side. I hope it's not a wasted opportunity.

Then again Moyes said we are moving to an elite stadium so we need elite players.
And he never tells fibs .

Money will be spent, loans will be brought in, a free frees, we will get the players we need, IMO.

But we simply wont get in 10+ banger players, some will be there to fill out the squad.

I didn't say we'd get anywhere near 10+ banger players in.
I did say 4/5 good first team starters then loans/ frees to add to the squad.
As long as they are better than the barrel scrapers we've brought in in the recent hellish period.

Btw
That huge player overhaul Forest had last summer cost them 105 mil laid out and brought in 86 mil according to transfermkt . It can be done .

Of course it can be done, we just need to sell Branners.

But im not even saying it cant be done, it can be done and it will be done, im just saying, we will need some cheap squad fillers, if that is DCL, Keane or any of the other out of contract players, then so be it.

The hope is that instead of them being "first choice", they just become squad fillers.

Personally, I would sell the whole squad bar 5 players and start brand new.
