New Everton Stadium

Even if there is a delay there is zero chance the PL are going to allow us to be too many games behind everyone else, so whereas I could see them allowing us to postpone our first two home matches that is as far as they will allow in my view, if for example for some reason the delay went as late as October/November then it’s either back to Goodison or reduced capacity at the Hill Dickinson. We do have options.

I agree, I can’t see there being a delay, as much as people on here love to panic. But other clubs when they have been doing stadium construction, have requested a block of away fixtures at the start of the season. I remember Man Utd doing it in the late 90’s and some clubs were not happy because it gave them a block of home games for the title run in.
I’ve worked on corporate construction projects and that picture didn’t show anything really, other than it’s not finished now. There is a lot of time between now and the start of the season.

Luton did it last season. Think they played the first four or five games away, then caught up the home games. Think they played four home games in a row.

It should balance out. The only issue I can see is if we need to re-schedule fixtures. It will be tight finding dates for this due to the amount of international fixtures for the World Cup.

I don’t think that’s true.
They played the first two away from home, but that was the scheduled games for matchweek 1 and 3.

Their matchweek 2 game was moved to early October.
They never had a long string of home or away games.

It doesn't need to tax the brain.

Just switch the fixtures involved.

The home games that should have been played early in the season just needs them to switch to the away match.

Same vice versa.

The only problem is that we can then play the same day as the RS.

Which can't happen due to policing...
...so it's not as easy as switching just our fixtures...

I just know lads working on it - I've posted on here plenty over the years about the timeline, and was spot on

I've seen photos and videos from the hospo bits and the 'bowels' of the place, as of last week, and there's a reason why Everton aren't showing it off whatsoever

Not being finished this close to season start is unsettling. Sure, they can open some of these facilities mid season, and maybe that makes sense, but nevertheless it's very worrying.

There have been many whole lounge refurbishments in close seasons at most stadiums, including at Goodison. Some with major reconfigurations etc. It's a regular occurance.

It's only an issue if other major works are still outstanding or there are difficulties with funding or the companies/contractors tasked with the job.

I believe Spurs had a major electrical job to do when they were delayed. Obviously LFC had the problem of the main contractor going bust. In terms of construction works, as far as I am aware, we have only had the roof-drainage problem, which the club claimed was due to an incomplete system..... and since then the on-going issue of recoating some steelwork under the stand. Is there anything else that might have delayed final fit-out? Of course we also had the whole ownership hand-over, financial and boardroom restructuring etc. Maybe some things have been put on hold while the new owners assess everything? Maybe they'd like more boxes?

Refurbishing a working lounge is not really the same as completing installation of all of the lounges.

There's a bit more to it than that. If it ends up with us being home at the same time as Liverpool there's an issue, as there is if one of the switches involves another team in a 2 club city where both teams end up scheduled at home. It's also not ideal for fans to be honest, 3 or 4 home games on the trot isn't great for either finances or time management purposes.

In my experience final fit out often happens very quickly, been on loads of site’s that look a million miles of being near completion that get transformed in a matter of weeks to a very high standard.
Hopefully that the case here - if indeed it appears behind schedule internally.

Scheduling subs, vendors, delays with delivery or reworking something that doesn't fit the way it was drawn. One week here, one week there, waiting on inspection and sign off from the City, etc. Focus on the essential bits and the complete the lounges one at a time after season starts would be a reasonable path.

As in home draws in the FA Cup on one weekend you would play home matches on different days to the RS, it's not difficult to understand.

If we are the ones switching then it's for us to play the match after they have first pick of the date.
