New Everton Stadium

I would assume its by increasing the standing areas from a 1:1 ratio to 1:1.5
Lower South = 5k * 1.5 = 7.5k
Lower North = 2.7k *1.5 = 4.05k
Lower Away = 1.5k approx? = 2.25k
So the Safe standing areas go from around 9.2k to 13.8k (increase of 4.6k)

So Capacity in that instance increases from 52,888 to 57,488 - very close to the stated 57,679
My assumption is that the missing 191 seats in my estimate is via the lower away section being slightly larger than I assumed.

It's almost certainly a typo.

In anycase, they would need to change the rail seats to the German type to get anywhere near a 1.5:1 ratio. The current ones take up far too much legroom.

I also don't think the Lower North (home) is earmarked for safe-standing as yet.

The tunnel club thing is just construction walls, there’s no fit out even close to happening there because the initial one was of such poor quality. None of the fit out has started on the other lounges either.

There’s what, 5/6 lounges? Oh, and they’re still deciding on the name of that pub they had people vote on. So, none of the branding has started for that.

Just look at the photie posted a few pages back and tell me I’m lying.

That was me mate. And you're spot on with everything.

Thought they announced weeks ago that 'The Prince Rupert' won the vote?

Exactly this. They look on it as Scotland v. England .

I think that's correct in my experience, although I don't know too much about Scottish sides in all honesty. I've been at Preston vs. Hearts before and the away end was packed for that as well (probably important to say I didn't see any trouble for that anywhere in the city though!)

For our Celtic game, our end of the stadium was completely empty and they had sold everything out - I remember thinking it was quite funny to see how little we were arsed and how much they were up for it. I think we were absolutely hammered on the pitch to top it all off - although the actual score escapes me.

I don't remember any trouble when we played Celtic in the 90s (was it Nev's testimonial). Remember a lot of trouble against Rangers for Dave Watson's though..... Before and after.
Celtic fans seem to have a better reputation for being behaved, all they want is to drink, have a sing song, go the match, more drink. Rangers seem to be an angrier bunch, they want to drink, have a sing song, throw some punches, go the match, cause some aggro, more drink.

I think I remember something in the early documents about Lower North standing, but I might be making it up entirely.

Nah they just have better PR and that cult like support that deflects negative stories and blames others (sound familiar?)

Anyone that's watched the Sunderland doc. will know they travel in numbers and can cause trouble.
Although to be fair recently, its usually their fans fighting each other than hits the headlines

plus instances of fans shot and stabbed on recent euro travels.

Like most clubs, the away fans are a different bred. Fans of other Scottish clubs are known to just avoid going to home games involving the ugly sisters as its just not worth the hassle of dealing with the baggage and issues of the OF support, as they differ from normal football fans.

They are both to be avoided, the police bill would be massive compared to the alternatives.

Even if safe standing was brought in, it couldn't be used in the tournament anyhow, so based on the article it would still be the current capacity - probably a bit more for the extra press.

I'd imagine it would be reduced capacity if anything. There would be potential bigger segregation requirements than your usual 3k away fans. Although I appreciate there still tends to be more mixing of fans there is also more potential trouble.

Wonder how they'll split it for the euro games?

Could imagine teams would want the south stand so may split from there?

I'm sure there already fitted segregation walls in the concourses though so that might play a part.
